The Art of Marc Wolfe: Batman, The Joker, & Harley Quinn!

A friend of mine told me about an artist who must really like Batman because he has a few examples of Batman-related artwork in his online portfolio. The artist's name is Mark Wolfe & this guy is pretty talented. Here are a few examples of some graphics he did that look like real-life playing cards. I think they would make an awesome card set. They feature Batman, Joker, & Harley Quinn ( The one of Harley is my favorite ). Down below is a link button to check out his page. If you check it out please let us know what you think about his work by leaving a comment down below. Also, be sure to BOOKMARK the Bat-Blog before ya leave!

Batman Fan-Made Film: BORN LAUGHING ( Heath Ledger's Joker )

"Born Laughing" was written to chronicle the early crimes of Christopher Nolan and Heath Ledger's incarnation of the Joker character. The acting is pretty good for a fan-film. Also, The Joker's costume, hair, & make-up look very much like Heath Ledger's version...nice!

Batman Humor Photo: The Dark Knight Rockin' The Casbah!

I snagged this photo awhile back when surfing through MySpace but now I forget where I got it, ha ha. But anyway it's from a guy who's a musician & one Halloween he & his band members all dressed up in costume on stage. I thought this picture was kinda funny with Batman playing the guitar! If you have any humor Batman photos to share then please send them today or just leave a comment down below to let us know what you think about this pic. Thanks.

Photo: "Golden Age Joker" Batman Graphic Tattoo Art

I just found this really great example of some Batman-Related Tattoo Art. This is a graphic of the "Joker Playing Card" logo from the Golden Age of Batman comics. The tattoo belongs to a friend known as "Montreal_Clown" who resides in, you guessed it, Canada! I think the artist did a very good job. The colors are vivid & sharp...nice, very nice! As a side note I wanna thank the owner for allowing me to post this great pic. I appreciate that & your Joker tattoo looks awesome, a very good choice of imagery!

Video: Fan-Made Film ( Dubbed Dutch Language ) Batman Beyond: The Return of The Joker

Here's a recently found video that I thought was pretty interesting. Some fans took a clip from a Batman Animated Cartoon & added their own voices, in Dutch! Even though I can't understand what they're saying you can still get that they did a good job with the inflictions, timing, & "sound" of the characters. Check it out, it's kinda neat.

Original Harley Quinn Artwork By Bruce Timm Submitted By Bat-Blog Reader!

One of our readers named Peter sent us this awesome picture of a Harley Quinn Sketch done by Bruce Timm. We all know her as The Joker's girlfriend & she's a great character! This guy was responsible for creating "the look" of the, now classic, Batman: The Animated Series. It appears that our friend had this wonderful piece of art properly framed & matted, that's cool! Thanks Peter for sharing this with us. We appreciate that & you have an awesome sketch you should be proud of. As always we wanna invite ALL other Bat-Blog Readers to send any Batman-related photos to share! Art, Humor, Toys, Wallpapers, etc...

Vintage 1960's Batman & Robin Artwork By Carmine Infantino Inspires Comic Book Covers!

The first image shown in this post is an icon in comic book history. This graphic of Batman & Robin posing on the edge of a Gotham City rooftop is super-famous. It was created by the Silver-Age comic book artist Carmine Infantino. It has been made into a Poster, a Vinyl Placemat, a Jigsaw Puzzle, graphics for a Batman Board Game, and it has even been a source of inspiration to many later comic book artists while doing a comic book cover, sort of an homage. The next few photos are just some examples. I have always thought this is a really great image & thought you might like these random covers, they're both cool & kinda funny. If you know of some others then please submit them by e-mail. Also, leave a comment & let us know which one you like the best.

2 Free BATMAN WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS Featuring THE JOKER!

Regular Bat-Blog Readers know the drill! Every Wednesday we post 2 Brand-New BATMAN WALLPAPERS you can use as a background in a MySpace layout or to decorate your PC Desktop! Here are some with a JOKER theme. The 1st one is a new one at the Official DC Comics website where they kinda hype the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE 20th Anniversary Graphic Novel Book ( I can't wait till this comes out & they're also gonna make some very cool Action Figures too ). The next Joker Wallpaper is extremely special because it was created by a friend of the Bat-Blog named "Bacon". He's a graphic designer dude with a lot of talent. He made this just for you guys & it's really cool! I like how, in the background, there's the phrase "WHY SO SERIOUS?" & the letter have a drop-shadow to give them a 3-D look. The graphic of Joker has the same shadow & it's just a neat trick-of-the-eye that I like. We wanna invite other readers to send us LARGE graphics we can use as backgrounds. Sharing information & the joy of Batman collecting is what this blog is all about!

NEW: French BATMAN PRODUCTS From France!

In response to a post we did recently about some "Foreign Batman Memorabilia" our friend Andrew sent these wonderful photos of some current Bat-items available in France. The 1st picture is my favorite & it's a box of Batman Cookies. The graphics are awesome! Oh yeah, in Europe they call cookies "Biscuits", so I guess this is a box of biscuits, ha ha! The next 2 sets of photos are the magazine covers to, what Andrew calls, "Baby Magazines" that are probably marketed to small children. They feature THE BATMAN & The TEEN TITANS cartoons. He said he gets them because they come with cool premiums like stickers, cards, watches, keychains, etc...Thanks Andrew for taking the time to photograph these & send them. I really appreciate that & I know my readers will enjoy seeing this rare Batman stuff. I wanna invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers to send photos, no matter where you live!

The Bat-Blog is On The "I Believe in Harvey Dent" Viral Campaign Website!

OK, I know I'm a major bat-nerd now when I get really excited about being placed on THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Viral Website, ha ha! Warner Bros has created a page called "I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT" that is the base for their HARVEY DENT For DISTRICT ATTORNEY Political Campaign. It's a cool site that looks real & it allows people to get involved in different ways. One way is they have some really great PDF pictures that you can download & then take to a local printer to get bumper stickers or campaign posters printed, the graphics are nice! So, I had a "HARVEY DENT FOR GOTHAM CITY" banner made & put it on the back of my work truck. Plus, awhile back I found some LETTER vinyl stickers & put "BAT-BLOG.COM" on my back tailgate. Everywhere I drive or park I advertise the Bat-Blog, ha ha! OK, so I took a picture of the back of my truck & submitted it. It got accepted & is now on the page. The funny thing is that the "Bat-Blog.Com Propaganda"also appears in the photo! If any other readers have some great ideas to advertise the Bat-Blog then please let me know ( You guys might mention this site in a message board you belong to or post a bulletin at your MySpace page, hint, hint ). One last thing, in the picture down below are some of the Political Campaign Buttons & Stickers being given away by the DENTMOBILE. If any of you live in a town where they are appearing please get me some of these! I live in Oklahoma City & they are NOT even coming close to my area ( yeah, that sucks! ).

Vintage Magazine Ad: BATMAN'S TV SWEEPSTAKES 1966

Here at the Bat-Blog we're pretty popular for our contests but this is not one of them, ha ha! Again, we are NOT giving away $250,000 dollars worth of prizes, ha ha ha! ( I wish! ) There is NO $50,000 First Prize, Ha! This picture was an original magazine print ad published by Prell Shampoo & Gleem Toothpaste in 1966. They teamed-up with the 60's TV Show to have this contest. Back then you would see this advertisement in a large-format magazine like LIFE or the Saturday Evening Post. I just love the vintage graphics & it's a neat part of bat-history.

PHOTO: New BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE JIM APARO Statue

Ya know, these BLACK AND WHITE Statues from DC Direct just keep getting better & better! ( Click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). One of my favorite childhood heroes was the classic comic book artist Jim Aparo. His version of Batman is still one of my favorites, up there with Neal Adams & Jim Lee. At the DC Comics website I noticed this new statue in their "Just Announced" section. The text reads: "DESIGNED BY JIM APARO; SCULPTED BY MIKE LOCASIO The popular BATMAN: BLACK and WHITE line of artist-inspired statues continues! This rendering of the Caped Crusader is based on the cover image from DETECTIVE COMICS #443, drawn by longtime Batman artist Jim Aparo. Painted in monochromatic tones, this statue is certain to be another sought-after addition to DC Direct's line of BATMAN: BLACK and WHITE statues. The statue measures approximately 6.5" tall x 8" wide x 5" deep. It features a logo-shaped base, and is packaged in a black-and-white box. $ 75.00 US | On Sale June 11, 2008"

Vintage Batman Memorabilia From Poland, Germany, & Belgium!

Readers who sorta-kinda know me from reading this blog over the last few years know I am totally goo-goo over the "Foreign Batman Toys", ha ha! So, it's been nice getting a few photos of Bat-Memorabilia from readers around the world. The 1st photo is a very RARE Batman Batmobile Toy shown Mint in Original Box! Our friend Albert sent this, it was made by Polistil & it's from the late 1970's. It's extremely cool. The next photo is from our friend Norbert who lives in Germany. He had originally sent this photo as a response to a request we made for items with the newer Batman Logo but I saved it for now. It's a special German-Issue of Batman which came with an original comic book art sketch on the cover! They need to do that here. The last photo is from a reader in Belgium who wrote that these Batman Cookies were out awhile back but no longer in stores. Oh man, I would love to have a box of these Bat-Cookies! The graphics all around the box are extremely cool! I wanna thank everybody who send these pics & as always, I wanna invite other readers, in or out of the USA, to send us your photos!

BATMAN TATTOO ART: Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, & Catwoman Tattoos

One of our Bat-Blog Readers, named Peter, sent us these amazing photos of his 2 Batman-related Tattoos & they're AWESOME! Extremely well done with sharp lines & nice coloring. Basically it's the "GOTHAM GIRLS" done in the artwork-style of Bruce Timm from Batman: The Animated Series. On one arm he has the Catwoman leaping through the air & on the other arm is a graphic showing Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn together. I have always loved that Classic TV Cartoon & think this is a great choice for tattoo art. Thank you Peter for sending these wonderful photos. If any other readers have some pics to share then please send them in, we always appreciate it!

It's the 20th Anniversary of BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Graphic Novel Book!

It's hard to believe that Batman: The Killing Joke came out 20 years ago, this makes me feel really old! I remember when it came out (I still have my original copy). Even back then it was a very BIG deal because it was written by the famous comic book writer Alan Moore & the artwork by Brian Bolland is still extremely beautiful by today's standards. In fact, this graphic novel is ICONIC. Shown up above is the original 1988 comic book ad hyping the release of the original graphic novel, 20 yrs ago! That famous picture of The Joker has been made into T-Shirts, Posters, Banners, etc. If you have never read The Killing Joke you should because it's really an important piece of history in the Batman Comic Book Universe. Plus, it's just so incredibly well-written & drawn, a great book! Recently, DC Comics published a Special "20th Anniversary" Edition. Here's a link for more information, check it out!

David & Victoria Beckham's Son, Cruz Beckham, Dressed in BATMAN BEYOND Costume.

OK, I hate tabloid news but the tabloids in the UK are going totally nuts over this & it is Batman-related so here we go. The famous LA couple David Beckham ( Soccer Player ) & his wife, Victoria ( Posh, from the Spice Girls ) have 3 children. The other day, in Los Angeles, "Posh" took her kids out to a movie for one of the kid's birthdays. But, it seems that their youngest son, 3 year old Cruz Beckham, stole the spotlight because he wore his BATMAN BEYOND costume to the show. ( Thanks to Andrew for telling me about this event ). I have to admit that the choice of this variation of Batman is kinda cool. Now, back to "real news".

Reader Photos: Awesome ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER Vintage Toy & Action Figure Collection!!

It seems that every day new readers are discovering the Bat-Blog ( I love that! ) but what I love more is the fact that a lot of them send in some really great photos, ha ha! This is a perfect example. This morning I got this wonderful e-mail from a new reader:
Hi, this is my first time emailing you, and I was reading through the archives how readers emailed you pictures that would look cool on your website. I have a picture of some of my Robin figures that I thought you'd might be interested in. Most of it are megos, but a few are DC Direct action figures. The strange looking Robin with the weird outfit is a Lily Ledy one ( the Mexican equivalent of a Mego ). It's a pretty cool piece!
And I also have a really neat Non-Magnetic Fly Away Action Mego Robin with artwork that just pops in the back! This figure is pretty rare and I wanted to share it.
And my last picture is a Secret Identity Bruce Wayne Mego figure. These are pretty rare as well and everything on mine is all original EXCEPT the tie, which is a repro. The deal with the secret identity figures is that they were only available exclusively at Montgomery Wards during a short time in 1974. I'll be getting a Dick Grayson Secret Identity one soon so if you want to see a picture of that one feel free to message me back.
-Francine
Oh yeah, Francine, we wanna see the photos of that Dick Grayson Figure when you get it. Please send it later! Also, thank you very very much for sending these great pics. You have a really awesome collection of Robin Memorabilia here! There's a ton of extremely RARE items & the condition on most of them are very very nice! I appreciate when collectors send photos of their bat-stuff on display. It's really neat to see & I want to invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers to do the same! Oh yeah, Readers, Be sure to click on the photos up above for larger, more detailed, pix!

In a recent post here at the Bat-Blog we showed a cool Italian vintage comic book ad that featured some DC Comic Character Premiums ( Batman, Robin, Superman, & Wonder Woman Jet-Planes ) that were given away inside Nesquik Chocolate Drink Mix boxes. Well, our friend Andrew knows Italian very well & sent us this translation:
Robin/Batman/Wonder Woman: "Our spaceships"
Superman: "Gift in Nesquik Astroquik"
Landing on Nesquik and obtainable free with Astroquik, the magnetic spaceships of the superheroes.
From today in every 400g box of Nesquik Astroquik, you will find one of the magnetic spaceships preferred by Superman, Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman. Funny BATMAN-RELATED HUMOR PHOTOS Yeah!

Posted here for your viewing pleasure are these 3 extremely funny BATMAN HUMOR photos. The 1st one was sent in by our friend Brian & shows a nice assortment of lovely Catwomen. It looks like a very vintage photo, maybe 1940's, so that's cool. ( Thanks Brian ). The next two pictures are ones I found on Flickr. This is a home-made Folk Art Yard Statue of Batman made out of scrap metal & accessories, like a real flashlight, clock, & toaster on his bat-belt. I have seen this before because this guy's artwork is a very famous landmark in southern California. He does all kinds of great stuff like this & it's always funny & extremely creative. The last photo is more cute than funny. It shows a precious little girl dreaming about being Batgirl while riding in the BATMAN FOREVER Movie Batmobile ( Vending Machine Car ). Oh man, I would love to have that car for my collection ...but where would I put it? It's HUGE! Yeah, I would find a place for it, Ha ha!

Giant-Sized BATMAN TATTOO ART Graphic Photo.

Recently, while surfing through MySpace I came across this photo of a HUGE Batman Tattoo. It looks like a photo taken right after the tattoo work was done because it's a little red around the artwork. Oh man, this thing is HUGE & must have hurt real bad, ha ha! It also must have taken forever to do because it's one of the biggest ones I have ever seen. Now, that's dedication to The Dark Knight! I contacted the guy to ask if I could post this pic & he was gracious enough to say, "Hell Yeah!" So, thank you, the tattoo looks cool dude.

Vintage Photo: BATMAN COSTUME From The 1970's!

I've mentioned this before but I really love old vintage photos with kids dressed up in Halloween Costumes. They're very fun & always crack me up. Here's a great example. I found this photo on a Message Board & when I did I knew I had to post it here. I asked the guy if it was ok for me to do so & here's what he said, "I just got your message about using my photo from the 70's on your website, and yes, you can use it. I look forward to seeing it online. Here's a little history behind that photo. That was taken when my family lived in Minnesota, and you can see me wearing a winter coat under the suit and a Vikings stocking cap behind the mask. It was cold there during Halloween." Ha ha, that's a funny story ( I was wondering what the deal was with the coat ). Thank you Stacy for allowing me to post it. It's a very cool photo & I know my readers will love it, I appreciate that.

UK Actress SARAH JAYNE DUNN To Be Harley Quinn in The New Batman Movie, The Dark Knight??

( ( SPOILER ALERT, SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY DARK KNIGHT NEWS EARLY )) Sarah Jayne Dunn is an extremely beautiful & very talented actress from the UK. Recently, it's been confirmed through her talent agency that she will be in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight. OK now, everybody is speculating that she will NOT be Harley Quinn but might play the part of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who, after falling in love with the Joker, becomes Harley. So, "Harley Quinn" might be heavily hinted at. Other sources say she will play Mob Boss Maroni's mistress. No one really knows for sure. Yeah, I hate rumors too. I've read other reports where Nolan, the director, has sworn that Harley Quinn will NOT make ANY appearances in the film so I kinda think she will probably be the "mobster mistress". I guess we'll have to wait & see to be sure.

FREE Batman Desktop Wallpaper Backgrounds!

OK, It's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" again & you know what that means, more FREE Batman Desktop Backgrounds! Now, regular readers might have noticed a few wallpapers recently that were done by our friend "Bacon". They were very popular & I was kind of surprised when he sent some more! They look really great also so I thought I would just release one right now along with one I made. That way the "Bacon Goodness" can be spread out, ha ha! He did the one of Harley Quinn (the Joker's girlfriend) & just like his other graphics it's freakin' sweet! Just wait till you see his other ones, very cool. Anyway, mine is the one below Harley Quinn & it's the NEW 2008 Hot Wheels 1966 TV Show Batmobile by Mattel. I wanted to do this one because the promo photo of this car just came out & it's way too awesome! Video: Adam West and Burt Ward ( 1966 Batman TV Show Actors ) 1987 TV Interview

Interviewed for Entertainment Tonight in 1987, Adam and Burt reminisce about their 60's Batman days and the neccesity of wearing "restraining devices." There is also a "hint" about a new Batman movie coming out which we all now know was BATMAN, directed by Tim Burton in 1989. It's the "1st Batman movie" with Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson. I have always wished that they would have given Adam & Burt a cameo appearance in that movie. But, they did give a tiny film role to Bob Kane, one of the creators of Batman, so that's cool. He played a newspaper reporter.

Foreign Advertisement BATMAN PREMIUM AIRPLANE TOY Nesquik Chocolate Milk Drink Mix

I hate being stupid! What I mean by this is I can only read English, ha ha! Here's an example: I found a very cool photo showing a "foreign comic book ad" where they promote a special offer of a "Superhero Airplane" inside Nesquik Chocolate Milk Drink Mix. There were 4 planes to collect: Superman, Wonder Woman, Robin, & Batman! If I could only get 2 of these you know which ones they would be! I also like the actual product packaging too. I wish I had photos of the real thing, that would be cool. It's hard to tell but I also don't know if these were given away FREE inside the package or if they were a mail-away item where you had to collect points. It might say so in the ad but again, I am stupid, ha ha! The copyright information is too small to read but I'm guessing this was from the early 1980's, maybe 1981-82. If anyone knows the language or country please let me know. I'm gonna guess Argentina or Brazil & I'm pretty sure the language is Spanish.

2 Batman Collectibles Avaliable Only at Comic Book Conventions.

For anyone who will be going to a Comicon this year be sure to look out for these 2 NEW Batman products. The 1st one is a limited-edition action figure made by Mattel called "Knight Shadow Batman". He looks kinda weird being totally black with just a hint of dark gray accents but I guess that's the "shadow" part, ha ha! Still, looks kinda cool. The next item is a Brass Batman Paperweight put out by Monogram. It's a part of their Justice League series. There's one of Superman too ( but who cares, ha ha! ). If any readers spot any more "Comic Book Convention Exclusives" please let us know so we can share because that's what the Bat-Blog is all about.

Finally, Some New Batman Merchandise!

I went to the store yesterday to get some household supplies & was totally shocked to find this new Batman product actually on the shelves, ha ha! This is a box of BATMAN FRUIT SNACKS by Betty Crocker. The gummy bites are in the shape of different Batman symbols: The Joker, Batmobile, Bat-Symbol Logo, Batman Full-Figure, Batman Face, & a Real Bat! I actually love these things & can eat them all day but ya gotta be careful because each pack is about 80 calories. There's 10 pouches per box so do the math. They are loaded with Vitamin C so that's good, I guess. Speaking of "pouches" the graphics of Batman on the box is the cool "comic book version" where he's wearing blue & gray with the yellow "pouches" Bat-Belt...awesome!

BATMAN R. I. P. - New Comic Book Advertisement

Our friend Paul sent this image in an e-mail. He wrote, "Just in case you haven’t seen this ad, it was in issue # 6 of Gotham Underground... Don’t ya just hate it when they drop cryptic hints like this..." Ha Ha, Yeah, I agree that DC Comics is not being very "secret" about it. For those who have not heard, there's been a rumor for awhile that DC is planning to kill Bruce Wayne (aka Batman) just like Marvel Comics did recently with Captain America. I guess it's a gimmick that always boosts sales. Even though I hate this idea the image in the ad is kinda cool so I took Paul's picture & made it a desktop wallpaper. The 1st image is the actual ad & the 2nd one is the wallpaper...Please feel free to use it as a background in a MySpace layout or just to decorate your PC desktop. ( Thank you Paul for sending the image, I appreciate that, the readers will love it ).

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with Batman Begins GTA Mods

In the video game world there is a sub-culture where some very talented people ( I call them "Artists" ) create what they call "MODS". Basically they create a line of code to give a character or vehicle a whole new look & then they embed that code into the game. In this video we see the main character of "Grand Theft Auto" replaced with Batman & his car is now the Tumbler Batmobile...sweet!

Here's another one where they made the car a 1995 Batmobile:

Famous 1966 Batmobile Car Image used in Insurance Magazine Ad!

In the current issue of "Hemming's Muscle Machines Magazine" (April 2008) there's a really neat advertisement for the Hagerty Insurance Company where they use the image of an original 1966 Batman TV Show Batmobile! It reads, "Why did Chris choose Hagerty to protect his famous Batmobile? Well, we may not be caped, but we are crusaders for lower premiums and better coverage. And our in-house claims department responds faster than most known superheroes. So Chris can spend less time worrying about his insurance - and more time saving the world. Yep. Chris is a car guy. He rides with us." Ha Ha, awesome!!

To The Reader Who Sent a Comment on the "Batman: Knightfall" Posting.

Early this morning while I was checking out the Bat-Blog I noticed somebody had placed a comment on the "Batman: Knightfall" posting. I read it & thought it was well-written. My intention was to accept it & add it to the many different comments that are already there. It was a very good comment. But, by accident, I hit the REJECT button instead of the POST button. So, I'm sorry & I apologize for your comment being deleted by accident. The person was "anonymous" so I don't know your name. If you read this message could you please re-send your comment. Again, I had just woke up, was kinda groggy, & like an idiot I hit the wrong button. I don't want you to think I am dissing you, ha ha! Please re-send it, Thank You.

Batman: Knightfall & Some Batman Comic Book History.

Batman: Knightfall was a story arc that ran thru all the Batman comic book titles in 1993-94. During this run they introduced 2 new characters. Azreal, who was a superhero in training & Bane, who was a major villain. The basic story is that Bane is inspired & very determined to crush Batman. To do this he starts his evil plan by releasing all the prisoners of Arkham Asylum, Gotham City's main high-security prison. The rogue list includes The Joker, Scarecrow, Firefly, Madhatter, The Ventriloquist, Victor Zsasz, & others. After their release Batman has to find & fight all of the villains thus weakening him & making him the perfect victim for Bane. Then we all know what happens next because it's a very famous moment in comic book history, Bane breaks Batman's back! Now, I know a lot of Batman fans really love this story-arc because it is very well-written & the artwork was pretty good too. But, here's the deal, I was really into collecting comic books at the time & when this cheesy event happened was when they lost me as a customer. It was such a low-class marketing move that I stopped buying comics for a really long time. That's how offended I was. After a little time had passed ( a few years, ha ha ) I eventually came back. But, the exact moment when Bane crushed Batman was when DC Comics broke my heart, ha ha! Now, here's some recent events that happened to me. I have been debating with myself to publish this personal opinion of mine or not because it is kinda negative, I guess. But it's something I felt strongly about & I have been collecting a few images for the story when all of a sudden a Bat-Blog reader sent this video featuring some amazing animation. The short "fan film" is a home-made animation that is the entire Batman: Knightfall story arc but sort of condensed. The animation quality is very good. This guy is a very talented artist! ( Thank you Kev for sending the link ). For the readers who were into Batman around this time I'd like to know how you felt about DC Comics breaking Batman. Please leave a comment down below.

THE New DARK KNIGHT BATMAN Bat-Pod Toy Reminds Me of...

Photobucket
Anybody who grew up during the 1970's had, or knew a kid that had, the Evel Knievel Stunt Show Bike Playset!! This vintage toy is a certified classic! It was made by Ideal & basically it was a toy motorcycle with "action figure" doll of Evel Knievel that had a special hand-crank launcher. You locked the bike into it, gave a few cranks, hit a button, & zzzoooommm! off it went! I had one as a kid & played with it for many hours. It was a highly successful toy line in the 70's & was even recently reproduced. OK, this brings me to the photo of the new Batman Bat-Pod Batcycle toy ( from the Dark Knight movie )you see in the photo. Notice any resemblance?! I have 2 nephews & I know I'm gonna have to get them one of these, it looks very cool! Of course I'm gonna have to get me one too, Mint In Box of course!

Video: Batman ARKHAM ASYLUM Fan Film ( English Subtitles ).

The other day a friend reminded me of this awesome Batman Fan Film titled ARKHAM ASYLUM. I had this on the bat-Blog awhile back when it premiered but thought it was worthy of another look. It's a short fan-film by Miguel Mesas (www.miguelmesas.com). It's based on the famous comic book graphic novel BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM (Written by Grant Morrison. Art by Dave Mckean). It's also a "foreign language" film so that's why there are English subtitles. The art direction, costumes, & overall quality are totally insane ...enjoy!

Promo Photos: Some BRAND-NEW The DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie TOYS, Action Figures, & Statues!

These images were pulled from a Japanese site & if Warner Bros wants them taken down I might have to but here's a few promo photos for a few of the super-cool Batman Toys they're gonna make for the 2008 Dark Knight movie! The 1st two pics are a set of Batman & Joker Deluxe Action Figures. Both are really impressive but the Joker's face is awesome! He looks exactly like Heath Ledger, a good job on that! The next item is a replica-prop of the Batman Grapple-Hook Gun. Looks like it comes with a stand & I bet it's gonna be popular. It also looks to be extremely nice quality, that's cool. The last photo are a pair of Batman & Joker Mini-Busts. The detailing on all these toys/statues are pretty nice. A lot of bat-fans were kinda turned off by the variety & quality of the Batman Begins merchandise but this time around it looks like they are gonna go all out! The items you see here are gonna be from DC Direct. Please let us know what you think about these by leaving a COMMENT down below, thanks.

BATMAN and ROBIN PLUSH ART DOLLS By Elizabeth Garvey

The other day a friend turned me on to a website of an artist who makes some really great artwork. Her name is Elizabeth Garvey & she has a lot of style! Shown here are 2 very primitive-looking handmade dolls of Batman & Robin that are extremely cool. I love the homemade quality of them & the fact that they are not perfect. They look almost like a small child crafted them & that's a part of their special charm. Here's a link down below if you're interesting in seeing more of her work. We would like to invite all Bat-Blog readers, who like to get creative, to send us some examples of your Batman-related art. Thanks.

At the Warner Bros Viral Site for the new Dark Knight Batman movie, Ibelieveinharveydent, they are starting a new deal where you sign up & eventually you will get a phone call that is a recording of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) campaigning for District Attorney. Readers, We need your help to find this Batman Logo!

This morning I got an e-mail from Chris Gardner. He's an illustrator for House Industries, a major design firm. He's the guy who designed the new Batman logo for the comics books. He also did the ones for Detective Comics & Batman Gotham Knights. I have always loved that new logo so it was kinda neat to get an e-mail from him. Anyway, his question was if I knew of any bat-products, besides the comic book, to utilize that exact logo. New toys always have the movie or TV show logos or use an older Batman logo. So, besides the T-Shirt with this logo, do ANY readers out there know of any bat-products out there using this logo? It's the one featured in the lower graphic. Please e-mail the Bat-Blog or just leave a comment down below & let us know. If you can send a photo that's great but even if you can't just let us know...Thank You.

The other day I came across a really cool website with a weird twist. It features many vintage newspaper ads for bootleg films & exploitation movies that were made in the Philippines. One is titled BATMAN VERSES DRACULA & the other one is BATWOMAN AND ROBIN. It's a shame but these movies are lost in time with no known copies to exist. Oh man, these would be really great to watch. Golden Age Batman Comic Books: Dick Grayson Sat In A Corner...

Over at Mark Engblom's COMIC COVERAGE website he made a very funny observation about how on most of the Batman "Golden Age" comic book covers the artists always stuck Robin in the corner, ha ha! I'm only showing a few here for an example ( I "stole" this pic from his blog ) but he shows a ton more & the redundancy is what makes it so hilarious, they just go on & on! Here's a link to check it out:

Video: Adam West & Burt Ward Screen Test for the 1966 Batman TV series

This is the screen test which ABC executives choose who they wanted to star as Batman and Robin, two were made. This one with Adam West and Burt Ward and the other with Lyle Waggoner & Peter Deyell. The Waggoner and Deyell couple seemed like favorites but after this screen test producers decided on Adam West and Burt Ward. The neat thing about this video is that they played the characters in a very serious tone. It's not like the TV show which was sort of campy. Oh yeah, Burt Ward's real name is Burton Gervis, ha ha ha!

MATT POTT, A Commercial Artist Inspired by Batman!

People know that I love art so a friend at MySpace told me about this commercial artist named Matt Pott. He has a very cool online portfolio & you can tell from a few pictures he did that he's a HUGE fan of Batman, ha ha! Here's a few examples right here: Batgirl & Catwoman. He has a pretty cool style, very cartoony with a 50's retro feel about it. Here's a link if you're interested in seeing more, enjoy.
