This morning I was totally delighted when I opened my e-mail & got this awesome photo from a dedicated Bat-Blog Reader ( Thanks Chen! ). It's a wonderful photo showing the HUGE billboard advertising that Warner Bros is doing in Taiwan!! If you look closely ( Click on the small picture up above for a larger, more detailed shot ) you can see a few of the different "movie posters" sprinkled all around, nice! ( Thanks again Chen, this pic is great! ). I wanna invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers who see cool promo-stuff like this to mail it in. Signs, billboards, banners, whatever! Our e-mail button is on the top right-hand side of this page, thanks.Labels: advertisement, Advertising, batman, Billboard, joker, Movie, Movie Poster, Taiwan, The Dark Knight
OK, The Bat-Blog has been covering the events with the line of General Mills U.S. Cereal Boxes with THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Promotion but this is something totally new! In countries like Singapore, New Zealand, & the UK (among others) another division of GM, called Nestle, have released 4 new Batman Cereal Boxes that have 4 figures to collect. The interesting thing is that 2 of the figures are totally different than the ones here in the USA! The 2 that are different are a "Double-Punching Batman" & a "Scarecrow"! Here. we have a Batman Figure that has 1 moving arm but there they have a 2-fisted version. Plus, the Scarecrow is totally new. The cereal that they are featured in is Nestle KoKo Krunch & Nestle Honey Stars. The name of the promo is "Bring The Batman Action To Breakfast". Oh man, I really really want these!!Labels: Action Figures, batman, Cereal Box, Figures, joker, Nestle, New Zealand, Premiums, Scarecrow, Singapore, The Dark Knight, The Joker, UK
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, whew! Oh man, when I saw these they cracked me up! Here's a set of customized MUNNY FIGURES made to look like Batman & Robin, if they were very old senior citizens. They were made by an artist named "Montreal Munny". I found these over at a website called TOY CUTTER that is basically all about the urban toys fad. One of the things in that sub-culture is to take these blank figures that are called "Munnys" & totally make them custom to your own ideas. They have HUGE contests where artists display their creations. I think these were from a show at the famous urban toy store called KID ROBOT. I love these, they're hilarious. I also like that they limited the palette to just black, white, & grays ( with a little bit of YELLOW )...that's great. Is that suppose to make you think of "B&W TV" or an old vintage photograph? Very cool.

Right now, in Argentina, the Arcor Candy Company has some very cool Batman THE DARK KNIGHT Candy for sale! Actually, it's 2 different flavors of Bubble Gum, Tutti-Fruity & Mint. Inside every wrapper is a "Free Batman Sticker". I would seriously love to get some boxes of this candy. The 2 different Display Boxes, with the cool headers, are awesome! Something I wanna do right now is ask all of our "foreign readers" to please let us know about Batman products from around a world ( doesn't have to be "The Dark Knight" but anything Batman ). As regular readers of this blog know I am totally goo-goo over the "foreign stuff", ha ha!Labels: Arcor, Argentina, batman, Bubble Gum, Candy, Store Display, The Dark Knight, Wrapper
"I AM BATMAN!!" At one of the many Message Boards I am a member of I saw this extremely cute family photo that I knew I had to share here. Someone with a very tiny little baby placed a Batman mask on it's face for a family photo. Personally, I really love this picture & think it's a work of true ART. I instantly e-mailed the owner of this picture to ask permission & he was kind enough to say, Yes! So, thank you for allowing me to share this. I really love this picture & know my readers will too...it's adorable!Labels: Baby, batman, Batman Mask, Family, Funny, Humor, Masks, Photo, Photograph

OK, I know that this is wayyy out of season but Hallmark Stores have started to put out some of their New Christmas Keepsake Ornaments for 2008. They are gonna have a "Batman Climbing His Rope" ( The Dark Knight ) Ornament & another one of THE JOKER ( Comic Book Version ). So, keep an eye out for these if you collect them. (( No Spoilers Here )) Cool! The very very very first official movie review for The Dark Knight was presented by Rolling Stone Magazine's Peter Travers. I think it's pretty well-written & the good thing, a relief really, is that he seriously loves the movie! He doesn't give away too much information, which I like because I hate reviewers who spoil the surprises, but he does say that people will be totally blown away by Heath Ledger's performance of The Joker & that it should bring the actor an Oscar™. Here's a link to check it out, enjoy.

I know a lot of Bat-Blog Readers are also Christian Bale Fans so I thought I would add this link to a cool interview with him in Parade Magazine. The interview was conducted by Jeanne Wolf & she asks some interesting questions, check it out. Oh yeah, one last thing, the 2 photos up above were just a few from their website & they have a few more nice ones as well. I thought the one in the "red truck" was a very nice picture & the one where he's "throwing the football" is kinda funny because it looks like a shot out of a cheesy Sears Catalog, ha ha!

OK, I bet you thought the HOT TOYS ( 1/6 Scale ) Batman/Christian Bale 12" Action Figure was pretty awesome but get this, they also made a large-scale TUMBLER BATMOBILE to go with it!! This toy company keeps surprising me with the super high-quality stuff they make! Their "Dark Knight Tumbler Batmobile", shown here, is simply amazing. I love the the extreme details like the rubber tire tread, the way the door opens, even the dashboard....sweet! ( Please be sure to click on the above pictures for larger, more detailed, photos ). This will be a "must have" for many Batman Toy Collectors. Crap, I need a second job to afford all this stuff, ha ha!

Oh yeah, I saved the BEST for last! This is the very special BATPOD MOTORCYCLE, made by HOT TOYS, that will be built to go along with their 12" ( 1/6th Scale ) Batman Figure!! I sincerely think that this is a true work of ART!! The detailing is totally insane & would be really great to have to display with the action figure. Please be sure to click on the above photos for larger, more detailed, pictures. Oh my god, if I only buy 1 Dark Knight movie item ( ok, 2, because I'll also need to have the figure, ha ha ) then this will be it!! OK, Most Batman Fans in the USA right now know about the DARK KNIGHT Movie Promotion that General Mills is doing with their line of cereal boxes but keeping up with it is sort of crazy! Here's the deal. All of their cereal brands have some sort of Batman prize or premium in the box ( NO "mail-aways" right now ). There are 4 different areas to collect: 3 Mini-Comic Book Booklets, 4 Batman & Joker Figures ( 2 of each character ), 4 Spinning Tops, & 4 Disc-Shooters. The booklets & figures are sort of random & to complete a set is just luck but one neat thing about this promo is that you can get the 4 Spinning Tops just by buying one box of 4 different brands of cereal. In other words 4 cereal boxes each have 1 very specific SPINNING TOP just for that box. The 4 cereals are Fruity Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch ( I really like the flavor of this one, ha ha ), Lucky Charms, & Reese's Puffs. In later posts I will be covering the other premiums so look for those in the future.Labels: batman, Cereal Box, Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, General Mills, joker, Lucky Charms, Premiums, Prizes, Reese's, Spinning Tops, The Dark Knight
Everything "Batman" on the internet lately has been the "Dark Knight, Dark Knight, Dark Knight" so I thought I would pop-up some old school merchandise! I also thought I would put an interesting twist on it & show stuff from around the world. Here we go! The 1st item is from both the 1960's & the UK so it's pretty RARE! This is a vintage package of BATMAN CANDY CIGARETTES. I seriously love the old retro graphics, it even has the 60's Batman Logo, nice! The 2nd piece of Bat-History is from Greece! This was an officially issued Coca-Cola BATMAN SODA POP CAN made around the time of the 1989 Batman Movie, very RARE too! The next item is one of my favorites. It's a box of JAPANESE 1960's BATMAN PLAYING CARDS, of course, from Japan! The last item is very special also. It's a BATMAN POCKET WATCH with retro-graphics of The PENGUIN Villain. The cool thing about this watch is that it's animated. The "Penguin Animal" you see standing next to him, it rocks back & forth with crazy movement! This baby is from the UK ( 1960's ) & is so RARE it's what we could easily call a "Museum Piece". One last thing, this is a message to all our friends from around the world. If you have photos of RARE Batman Memorabilia then please send them to us!! Sharing the love of the character & collecting is what the Bat-Blog is all about!!Labels: 1960's, 1966, 60's, batman, Coca-Cola, Collectible, Collecting, Collector, Greece, Japan, Japanese, Memorabilia, Merchandise, Penguin, Toys, UK, Vintage

Every Wednesday here at the Bat-Blog it's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" & for the last few years I have been creating them all by myself. Well, a new dynamic, that I really love, is that for a few months now a lot of Bat-Blog Readers are contributing them. Here's an example: Our friend "Logan" has created BOTH of these wonderful wallpapers for you to use to decorate your computer's desktop or as a background in a MySpace Layout. The 1st one is a variation on the famous "Joker Playing Card". It's got the phrase, "Here's My Card", which we all know now as a famous line spoken by Heath Ledger's Joker in the new Dark Knight movie trailer. The 2nd one kinda through me off guard a little bit ( Meaning, I was totally surprised )...it's BAT-MITE! As a true Batman Fan I really love this wacky character. I know he's kinda silly but he's from the crazy 1950's era & has a lot of nostalgic appeal. Plus, the graphic is pretty cool! Please leave a comment down below & let Logan know which one you like the best. Also, if you have some graphics ( or a suggestion ) for wallpaper then please shoot us an e-mail. Our "e-mail button" is on the top right-hand side of this page. One last thing, Thank You Logan for sending us these backgrounds...GOOD JOB!

Ya know, most of the time when movie companies team-up with other companies for promotion they go to McDonalds or Burger King, not The Dark Knight! Warner Bros & Giorgio Armani have joined together to give Billionaire Bruce Wayne ( Christian Bale ) the finest "Hand Made To Order" business suits available! Here's an example of a real print ad inside a real fashion magazine. Personally, I think it's kinda cool.Labels: Ad, advertisement, Advertising, batman, Bruce Wayne, Business Suit, Christian Bale, Giorgio Armani, Magazine, Print Ad, The Dark Knight
Brian, over at the TOPLESS ROBOT website, wrote a very funny post about the "Top 10 Worst Batman Action Figures". The scary thing is that it's true! I'm pretty much a "Completest Collector", meaning: I have to have EVERYTHING with "Batman" on it that's ever been made! Impossible, I know. But, these horrible action figures they make of Batman in almost every single toy line makes me kinda ill. Check out this link & you'll see what I mean, ha ha!

Two friends of the Bat-Blog, named Danny & Brad, each sent me an e-mail of their new JOKER / HEATH LEDGER TRIBUTE Tattoos... on the same day! What are the odds of that! The 1st one belongs to Danny. He lives in Forney, Texas. He chose his favorite character & the artist did an amazing job on it! The 2nd one is Brads & he wrote that he is a HUGE Batman Fan, mainly the villains. It was done by Tim Bowling at Sacred Ink in Indianapolis, IN. Thanks guys, both of these Joker Tattoos are really great! I appreciate both of you sending them in. I'm still kinda shocked about receiving these at the same time & both of you guys live in totally different states, that's awesome! If any other readers have got some ink recently please shoot us an e-mail.

There's a new Batman book that's been published very recently by Del Ray called "The Essential Batman Encyclopedia" & I thought I would do a short book review about it. I remember getting news about this book a long time ago & have been kinda excited about it, thought it would be a very cool book to have. Well, after seeing/reading this book, I gotta say I am very happily surprised! First, the thing is HUGE! It's like a giant phone book. Next, it's not only jam-packed with a ton of detailed information but it's beautifully illustrated all through out. The author, Robert Greenberger, has done a really nice job compiling & organizing tons of Batman history. The book has almost 400 pages & the wonderful thing, for me, are all the awesome graphics that are sprinkled about on almost every page. They didn't skimp on that area. There are beautiful pictures from the Golden Age 1940's all the way to the very very recent comic books. That was something that kinda surprised me, how "updated" it was. Now, to be honest, I have not yet read every single line in this book, that would take me months to do. But I have read a lot & the way the information is laid out is really nice. Just like any encyclopedia you look up a name or place & there's a section on that person or thing. I like that they list the "first appearance" of many characters. ( Bat-Mite, Detective Comics # 257, May 1959 ). I think that this is a book that every Batman Fan would love. For example, as a test, I tried to think of a very obscure character to look up. When I was a little kid I always liked a villain named The Eraser. I flipped through the book & not only did they have some nice information about him but they also had a wonderful graphic as well. They reprinted the original comic book cover he 1st appeared on, ha ha! I ran many tests like that & was happily surprised each time, a fun book. One thing I gotta say though. This book's main focus is the "Comic Book Batman" or what most fans call the "real Batman". It doesn't have any facts about the 1966 TV Show, The Animated Series, The Movies...it mainly covers the "comic book" character. But, that's the character we all love & covering those other areas could be another 400 pages! So, I guess, to sum it up...this book is really wonderful & it's a must have for any true Batman Fan or Collector. I like it & hope, that if you check it out, you will too. One last thing: If you have already planned on buying this book from Amazon then please help support the Bat-Blog by using this link, thanks.

I saw this set of photos the other day at a favorite Batman Message Board & knew they had to be posted here! A friend recently bought this Custom Barbie Doll on eBay & it's really well done. ( Click on the above photo for a larger, more detailed, picture ). As you can see it's custom-made to look just like CATWOMAN from the 1966 Batman TV Show. The detailing to the doll is amazing & the costume looks like it is "production-made". It even has a custom box with Catwoman graphics & a great photo of Julie Newmar...SWEET! If any other Bat-Blog Readers have any custom toys, dolls, or action figures then please shoot us some photos. Our e-mail button is at the top right-hand side of this page. Thanks.

I didn't even notice, until later, but yesterday when I posted the "Vintage Photo of a Kid in Batman Costume" story, that was the 1500th post on the Bat-Blog! WOW!! One Thousand Five Hundred Posts!! I really really love old photos like this! When I saw this one I knew it had to be published here. This little guy is a true Batman Fan! His name is Todd & this photo was taken in 1992. He was 6 years old & look at that priceless expression on his face, he's happy! This looks like a homemade costume & those are usually the best! He told us it was made by his Grandmother & that's really special. Thanks Todd for sharing this great photo. I appreciate that & the costume is way too cool!Labels: 1990's, 1992, batman, Cosplay, Costume, Photo, Vintage
I love when people get tattoos of Batman-related art because that shows some serious dedication to the character! Here are 2 very nice examples recently sent in by some Bat-Blog Readers. The 1st one is our friend "Crusher" who got a tattoo with artwork of the SCARECROW Batman-Villain...Nice! It's kinda RARE to see this bad guy so that's awesome. The tattoo looks really good too. The next one is a BATMAN LOGO BAT-SYMBOL. I like that it's the "comic book version" & it's very well done. I wanna quickly say THANK YOU to both readers for sending in these cool photos. Your tattoos are really awesome & I appreciate you guys sharing these pics. I also wanna invite any other Bat-Blog Readers to send us ANY Batman-related stories & photos. There is a specialty store in the UK called the FRENCH CONNECTION & this year they will feature many different high-quality T-Shirts with Batman graphic designs. The shirts cover a lot of different versions of Batman & The Joker from the Comic Books to The Dark Knight movie ( the examples shown here are the "comic book" versions with the 1st Batman being the artwork of Jim Lee ). There's gonna be a very nice variety. Here are just 2 of my favorites & they have so many great ones that it would be hard to choose. Now, the thing to keep in mind is that they are quite expensive. Another thing to think about is that they are not yet published on their website but will be soon. Down below is a link button to their main site. Later, choose the "United Kingdom" section to see the Batman & Joker T-Shirts.

A few days ago, at the Bat-Blog, we featured a story about the new 1966 BATMOBILE-INSPIRED Electric Guitar that was personally designed for Hallmark Guitars by George Barris ( Check The Bat-Blog Archives, Lower Left-Side ).It was a popular post because this Custom Electric Guitar is totally INSANE! Well, we got a new photo from a friend named John who not only got to handle this baby but was also, at the time, dressed in full Batman "Adam West-Style" Costume AND standing next to a 1966 Batmobile Replica Car...Oh my God, how cool is that?! I wanna thank John for allowing us to publish this photo, that must have been a lot of fun! ROCK ON!!

Today is actually a very proud day for me. Ya see, every Wednesday is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" here at the Bat-Blog. I usually have to create a few Batman-related wallpapers & post them. I actually enjoy making them but worry sometimes that they all "look the same". But today I am posting 2 that were made by actual readers of the blog. That's awesome! The 1st one was done by a friend named "Bacon". It looks like some pages from a scrapbook & is actually kinda clever. The design is pretty cool too. You might have remembered a few of his pieces from the past. He always does some very cool & unique graphics. The next one is from our friend Zdravko. He used a graphic of Heath Ledger's Joker & placed it in a black background. It's simple, minimal, & looks extremely cool! I know that most of it disappears in the blog's black background but try it on your PC, you'll love it! Both of these wallpapers are really wonderful. Do ya see how they are totally different? That's what I love about people submitting stuff is that it gives the blog some variety. I appreciate that, thanks guys.

The 1st photo was sent in by our friend Hans who just recently bought this Batman & Robin Japanese Jigsaw Puzzle. I seriously love the retro graphics & Japanese language...nice! (Thanks Han, cool find). The next few photos are some great examples of Japanese BATMOBILE Tin Toys (OK, The Bat-Jet is plastic. But you get the idea, ha ha!). One of them even has the original box! Ya know, sometimes these things are licensed by DC Comics & other times they are totally bootleg, but I don't care, I LOVE THEM ALL! Our friend Billy sent us this amazing photo scanned from a Fisher-Price Toy Catalog. Be sure to click on the photo up above for a large, very detailed, picture! It's a nice example of some of the new toys that will be released by Fisher-Price in 2008 as a part of their DC SUPER FRIENDS toy line. The big news of course is the large BATCAVE Imaginext Play Set. I really like this thing a lot & it looks pretty cool. There will be some new Batman Action Figures & Vehicles. It looks like they are gonna make a Batcopter, Batmobile, a Bike for Robin, & a Wacky Motorcycle for The Joker! There is also gonna be some new action figures of Batman, Robin, Joker, & The Penguin too. There are leaked rumors that in 2008 Mattel will have a Special 1/50th Scale Hot Wheels Bat-Vehicle that will be an exclusive at the next San Diego Comic Con event (SDCC). It's gonna be the BATGIRL BAT-CYCLE! Of course we all know this as the motorcycle used by Barbara Gordon in the 1966 Batman TV Show. I hope they sell it separately but the rumor is that they will make a special "Three-Pack" that will also include the 1966 Batman Bat-Cycle & Batmobile (The same ones that they have already released in stores, 1:50 scale). Now, for Batman collectors, there will probably be a special Pizza Box with TDK graphics. There might even be some vinyl advertising banners to look out for. Personally, I'm hoping that they come out with some cool toys, plastic cups, or some kind of premiums. Be sure to stay tuned with the Bat-Blog because we'll let ya know! Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named "Brohawk" who's an extremely talented graphic artist. His work is featured on the cover to the BATMAN: MYSTERY OF THE BATWOMAN Animated DVD Movie that came out a few years ago. Here's a photo I found at his personal website & had to share it. It seems that Warner Bros, around the time of the release of this movie, put up this HUGE vinyl banner advertising the event. "Brohawk" is shown here in the 2 photos. In the 1st one you can see how GIANT-SIZED this thing was, look how tiny he is compared to it... it's HUGE, ha ha! This must have been an amazing day for him seeing his work so large-scale like this & personally I am kinda proud of it too.

While I have been away The Dark Knight movie viral-marketing website, THE GOTHAM TIMES, has posted the new current issue of their newspaper, Volume 3. The headline reads, "BATMAN: SAVIOR OR MENACE?". Click on the Gotham Times Logo down below to read that issue:

Here's a wonderful vintage photo ( 1990's ) sent to us by Travis. This is him, in Bat-Costume, with a Batman: The Animated Series comforter he received as a gift. I love these kind of personal family photos showing young Bat-Fans. They always crack me up. The expression on children's faces, when wearing their Bat-Gear, is always happy. This photo really made my day. Thanks Travis.Labels: batman, Batman The Animated Series, Costume, Photo, Vintage
Yesterday was my grandmother's funeral. The event went along pretty well & it was a nice service. But, it was still pretty hard to go through. I needed a break from the Bat-Blog for a few days but today I thought I would get busy again. I find myself trying to stay busy because it helps keep my mind off things. The reason for this post is that I have been really surprised by all the very thoughtful e-mails, comments, & other messages from readers that I have received about this. I apologize for not being able to respond to each & every message but right now I would like to thank everyone who send their condolences. It's been very much appreciated by both my family & me. Thank you very very much. (The photo, taken just a few years ago, is our "Nanny" enjoying some birthday cake, she was always such a sweet lady & will be missed. May she R.I.P.).
If you're new to the Bat-Blog then you're probably wondering, "Hey, what's with the old lady?" Well, this is my grandmother. We always called her "Nanny". She was an extremely special lady. I know that if ANY person reading this blog would have ever met her you would have instantly loved her. That's how everybody who ever met her felt. She was extremely funny & had a very smart sense of humor. She was always so happy. Everyone always liked being around her because she had wonderful stories & was so cute. She had a long life & lived to be 85. I am having to write this to let my readers know that I will not be posting for the next 2 days. See, Nanny died 2 days ago & I have to deal with the funeral home today, then the funeral will be this Saturday. Regular readers will know that I never write anything "too personal" & that I always post 3-4 posts a day, everyday ( Check the archives from the last 2 years ). But I need off for the next 2 days to handle this. Thanks for understanding.
Next month, on July 15th, DC Comics will be release SHOWCASE PRESENTS: BATMAN Volume 3. I love the vintage-style cover artwork done by Carmine Infantino. For anybody living under a rock, & not having heard about these Showcase Books, they are HUGE graphic novels that reprint classic comic book stories. They usually revolve around a certain title or character. They're printed in black & white and, for the price, they are a really great value! Look for this one to come out pretty soon.Labels: batman, Carmine Infantino, Comic Books, DC Comics, Graphic Novel, SHOWCASE

You might have read it here at the Bat-Blog first but awhile back we reported that PEZ CANDY was coming out with 4 new Pez Dispensers with a "Batman Comic Book" character theme. Originally we thought that they would only be for the Canadian Market because that was the only place they were appearing. Well, we now have reports that people have been seeing them in Wal-Mart Stores here in the USA. That's awesome news because they're really very very cool! In case you haven't heard there will be a set of 4 PEZ Candy Dispensers featuring Batman, Riddler, Two-Face, & The Joker! Recently, our friend Mike sent us this photo showing the set he bought just the other night ( Thanks Mike ). I can't wait to get mine! I love these things.

One of THE DARK KNIGHT movie's viral-marketing websites, called GOTHAM CABLE NEWS ( GCN ), will feature a special online TV show called GOTHAM TONIGHT With MIKE ENGEL. The show will be on this Friday (June 13th, 2008). The media newscaster for that show (Mike Engel) is played by Anthony Michael Hall. Their website reads, " Watch for an all-new episode of Gotham Tonight this Friday at Comcast On Demand! GCN's hard-hitting, high-profile news program takes on the biggest news in Gotham. Featuring world-renowned journalist Mike Engel -- who helped bust the Gotham "squid killer" -- and the GCN news team. Gotham Tonight. Gotham never stops, and neither do we." Today I got done posting some amazing stories, ha ha, and then suddenly realized "Oh my God, it's Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday"! So, here for your viewing pleasure are 2 Free Batman Desktop Wallpapers you can use to brighten your desktop or use as a background in a MySpace layout! The 1st one is a favorite image from the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: GOTHAN KNIGHT Anime Animated Movie. It shows Batman in a fight scene & he looks mad! The next one is a brand-new hi-rez photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker in the Dark Knight Batman Movie. I'm really looking forward to these 2 films & thought you might enjoy these.

George Barris, famous custom car designer known for The 1966 Batman TV Show Batmobile (& many others), has teamed up with HALLMARK GUITARS to create this "Batmobile-Inspired" Electric Guitar! As soon as I saw the photos I knew it had to be posted here, it's crazy cool! It features the classic red lines of the original car & even has the "George Barris Crest" logo. He even autographs all the guitars sold! For more information here's a link to their website. While there be sure to check out the cool video!

One of our friends at the Bat-Blog Message Board posted this funny picture the other day and it's so cute & adorable that I knew I had to post it here. His dog had recently had puppies so he took one of the pups & made this wonderful photo of him riding the Mego Batman Batmobile. I think he should name him "ACE, The Bathound", ha ha! Congrats on the new puppies dude! Oh man, this pic makes me want to have a dog so bad. I just can't have one where I live & it's kinda sad. But this picture really cheered me up when I saw it (thanks for posting it).Labels: Ace the Bathound, Action Figures, Bat-Hound, batman, Batmobile, Dolls, Funny, Humor, Mego

OK, Remember when I reported this new toy awhile back? It's really cool! It's the "MY FIRST BATMOBILE" vehicle from the DC SUPER FRIENDS action figures by Mattel. It's really HUGE! Anyway, I recently went to my local Target Store & they had it on clearance for $7.48!! The original retail price, when it came out, was $29.99. Now, in my book, $8.00 is wayyy better than 30 bucks...any day! So, if you visit Target, be sure to check the end caps. That's where they "hide" a lot of sale items. I was really lucky to find this one because it was the very very last one in the store. So, if ya want one, ya better go right now!Labels: Action Figures, batman, Batmobile, Clearance Sale, DC Super Friends, My First Batmobile, Sale
The other day a friend of the Bat-Blog, named Neal, sent us this amazing "Batman 1966 TV Show" mock comic book cover. He made it with the idea of, "What would a Batman TV Show comic book look like if, in the 1960's, it were made into a comic book?" Oh man, this is hilarious! I love the old Gold Key logo & it's still 12 cents, ha ha! Now, Neal, if they really made this it would have been published by DC Comics but you did an amazing job on this! It really really really looks like one of those old Gold Key comic book covers with the photos & everything...seriously, good job!

Besides sharing the love of the character & the fun of collecting Batman Memorabilia one of the joys I get from doing this blog is meeting a lot of very cool people who also like Batman. And I mean people from all over the world! Some of them are really talented in some field of art or design. Here's an example: We have a friend named "Bacon" who works in graphic design. He has a really great style, sort of grunge-like. For awhile he would periodically send us a nice desktop wallpaper & then, all of a sudden, he stopped! Ha Ha, so the other day I wrote him a message & said, "Hey, where's the wallpaper?". I think he was amused by that ( hopefully so, because I meant it as a joke ). Anyway, a day or 2 later, I got this awesome wallpaper in my mail box! It uses some artwork by Brian Bolland from The Killing Joke graphic novel, a great image! I was gonna save it for Wednesday, because that's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday", but it's way too cool & I wanted to share it now. Just click on the image up above & you'll see a larger version. Then, if you have a PC, just right-click on it & click "Set As Desktop Background". Be sure to "center" it & not use the "stretch function" as that will distort it. I wanna personally thank Bacon for sending us this wallpaper. Dude, your graphic-style is amazing & we always look forward to getting cool stuff from you, Thank You & I really do appreciate it. I guess at this time I also want to invite other talented people to send us some cool graphics. A HUGE proportion of our readers us 1024 X 768 sized wallpaper so if you send one of those please use that size. Thanks!

For today's post I wanted to get back to VINTAGE TOYS because, really, that's what this site was originally created for, the love of the old Batman Toys & Memorabilia! So, here's a really nice example: Shown up above are some rare 1960's Batman & Robin Frame-Tray Puzzles made by Whitman (#1 & 4 ) and Strathmore ( #2 & 3 ). As a toy collector I really love these because they're neat to frame for display on the wall. Plus, I used to totally love puzzles when I was a little kid so they kinda bring back good nostalgic feelings. My Grandmother used to buy these for me at a store called TG&Y that doesn't exist anymore. So, I guess I'm kinda sentimental about these for that reason. The graphics are very cool. The 1st one is my personal favorite because it's a great scene with the Batmobile. It's the most common of the four shown but the picture is so awesome. I would like to take a minute to ask some of you to send in your photos & stories. Sharing information about this hobby is another main reason for this blog. I hope you enjoy these puzzles as much as I do.Labels: 1960's, 1966, 60's, batman, Collecting, Frame-Tray, Memorabilia, Puzzles, Robin, Vintage Toys, Whitman

If you live in Germany, or have a really hip bookstore that stocks foreign magazines, then be sure to look for the next issue of CINEMA Magazine. They're gonna do a special THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie report & the cover looks pretty awesome. I think it's all in German though so you'll just have to drool over the cool photos. That is, if you're like me & only speak English.Labels: batman, Cinema, Cover, German, Germany, Magazine, Movie, The Dark Knight
Keep an eye out at your favorite bookstore newsstand for the next issue of TOTAL FILM Magazine, July 2008. They're gonna do a special THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Issue. Somebody wrote me the other day asking what is Burt Ward doing now? They said they hear about Adam West a lot because he's on Family Guy & makes commercials from time to time. We all know Burt Ward as the actor who played Robin, The Boy Wonder, on TV's classic 1966 Batman Series. Today he stays quite busy with a charity he created called GENTLE GIANTS. Basically it's a pet rescue and adoption center for HUGE dogs. It's actually run by him & his wife. They find good homes for large-breed dogs. Burt also makes appearances at comic book conventions / car shows every now & then. But their charity work is a labor of love. If you're interesting in adopting a new pet then here's a link:

A loyal Bat-Blog Reader sent us these 2 wonderful photos to share! His name is Chaz & he's shown here with his 2 lovely daughters. They were lucky enough to meet both Julie Newmar & Yvonne Craig at some comic book convention event. Of course we know them as Catwoman & Batgirl from the 1966 Batman TV Show. Now, the thing that's most interesting about his family is that they actually named their two daughters "Batgirl" & "Harley Quinn"...how cool is that?! Thanks Chaz for sending these photos, they're really great. I had the chance a few years ago to meet Yvonne Craig & she's a really sweet lady, a true class act. If any other readers have met some Bat-celebrities please send us your photos too!Labels: 1966, Batgirl, batman, Catwoman, Comic Book Convention, Comicon, Julie Newmar, Photo, TV Show, Yvonne Craig
Our friend "DarkVengence" went & got himself another Batman Tattoo! But this one is of The Joker from The Dark Knight Batman movie & it looks just like Heath Ledger! The coloring is sharp/bright. Whoever did it did a great job! I posted a picture at the top that was probably used for the source photo. It gives you a good idea about the quality of the artwork, nice! Thank you DV for sharing this photo with our readers. We always wanna invite people to send us ANY Batman-related photos they may have ( Birthday Cakes, New or Vintage Toys, Old Photos, etc...)

OK, recently a loyal Bat-Blog Reader wrote me & said, "Hey, You guys cover Batman pretty good but you kinda neglect Robin". Yes, I agree. Sometimes I get a little too focused on Batman or brand-new information about The Dark Knight ( which doesn't have Robin ) that I forget about him, sorry. So, Here's 2 awesome desktop background wallpapers that show some love to the Robin character! The 1st one is a promo-shot from the 1966 Batman TV Show & shows Robin being kissed by a girl. Goo Goo. The 2nd one is a very modern-day version of Robin from the Teen Titans animated cartoon. In the future I promise to have some more features on Robin as well as other characters. If ANY Bat-Blog Readers have a request for a certain Batman item then please let us know.

OK, Just got this link from a friend who said that Totino's Pizza Rolls ( General Mills ) is having a contest where you can win a FREE Dark Knight Movie Ticket!! It's called "Totino's THE DARK KNIGHT Online Instant-Win Sweepstakes". I think all you have to do is register & then enter. I'm gonna try it out later, sounds kinda fun. Remember, if you enter the contest then GOOD LUCK! Here's a link to their website:

OK, in the new wave of 1:50 Scale Batmobile Hot Wheels Cars by Mattel I still need to find the "Comic Book" version & this one, the Dark Knight Tumbler! These are really great & the fact that they're only around 6 or 7 dollars is awesome! The detailing is really sharp & even the packaging is cool. I like that they all have Batman logos that are correct for each vehicle. Now, if you don't wanna spend a lot of gas money trying to hunt them down then I suggest Amazon. They have great service. But you might wait awhile until the "scalpers" are done ripping people off ( selling them for $29, shame, shame! ) & get them for about $7.00. I'm still gonna try to find them at the store because I love "the hunt" but if I don't find them soon I'll just order me a set. Here's a link:

I know all the major Toy Collector websites are covering the Dark Knight action figures & I post that information too but I also like the weird & obscure Batman items. Here's an example. My wife & I the other night had to kill a little bit of time before our favorite Chinese Restaurant was open for dinner so we went next door to the Dollar Tree. They always have really weird products so it's kinda fun. I, of course, had to see if they had any wacky Batman merchandise...they did! For just one dollar each they had these fun packages of Batman Candy. The graphics are pretty cool & it's more of the "Comic Book Batman" than the movie so that's great! One of them is "Ring Lollipops" where you get 3 plastic rings that have suckers on top in shape of the Bat-Symbol logo. The other one is a large bag that has individual packages of small hard candies in the shape of bats. Now, the thing you have to think about is that in 10-15 years, these will be almost totally non-existent. They will be very hard to find later because people having garage sales won't be putting them out. You won't find them at an estate sale will you? Think if you saw these & they were dated 1989, you would say, "Oh my god...these are really RARE, how do they STILL exist!?" Something to think about.Labels: batman, Candy, Collectible, Food Product, Merchandise
OK, I had to do it, I opened a package! Originally I bought one of the Kit-Kat Candy Bars (with the Dark Knight Batman movie promotion) mainly to keep as a collectible. But knowing that the candy was imprinted with some kind of Batman Logo design, & not knowing what it looked like, drove me totally nuts, ha ha ha! So, I opened one to photograph for the Bat-Blog. Here it is, in all it's glory! It's embossed with the Dark Knight Bat-Symbol & on the inside of the wrapper there's a message from The Joker that says, "Ha, Ha, Ha! I got away with all the Dark Knight prizes - The Joker. Don't frown, play again." Awwww bummer, I wish it would have said, "You are a WINNER!" but that NEVER happens to me. Oh yeah, one more thing for people collecting these: In movie theaters there will be specially packaged MILK DUDS & WHOPPERS with the same Batman graphics, shown in this vinyl advertising banner. Let's just hope they're not $8.00 each or something crazy like that. You know what a rip-off theater food is, ha ha! The last time my wife & I shared a large popcorn & a large coke it was $10.00...OUCH!

Here's a recently submitted photo from a loyal Bat-Blog Reader named Hans ( who lives in The Netherlands ). It's a beautiful piece of art that was drawn by his daughter while he was in the hospital. It shows 2 of his favorite characters, Batman & Bat-Mite! I always love art done by children. She's a sweet kid to have drawn this, it's wonderful. Hans, please tell Dana she did a really great job on it. If you haven't already, you should frame this for the wall, it's worthy! Thanks for sending us this pic & sharing your story, that's cool. Readers, be sure to click on the above Art Masterpiece to see a larger, more detailed, view!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Carl, sent in these amazing photos of some of his recently done Batman & Joker tattoos. The 1st 2 pictures show the "Gothic Batman" art on the back of his arm. I call it "Gothic" because of the Gothic-style lettering/font used for the letter B. I also like the simple silhouette of Batman in the background. This is a very interesting tattoo, one you don't see a lot. The next one is pretty awesome also. It's a Heath Ledger Joker Face from the new Dark Knight Batman movie. It's on the top of his fist so I guess when he punches you in the face the last thing you see, before passing out, is the Joker! Ha Ha, sorry, that was my lame attempt at humor. But seriously, these are some very well-done tattoos. Thank you Carl for sending the photos, I appreciate that & I know my readers will find them very interesting. If any other Bat-Blog readers have any cool Batman photos to share ( Tattoos or not ) then please send them in today!

On the left is the original comic book cover artwork for THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #99 by Neal Adams! This issue also featured The Flash. As a little kid I always loved this title because you got Batman AND another character. It always seemed like a great value, ha ha! Plus, the stories were pretty interesting & had great art too. Thanks Shilo for sending us this wonderful photo, I really appreciate that.Labels: art, artist, batman, comic book, Neal Adams, Original Art, The Brave and The Bold, The Flash
A Bat-Blog Reader named Chaz recently sent us this wonderful vintage photo showing him at his birthday party dressed-up in an Official Batman Costume. He wrote, "My brother Jimmy blew out the candles on my Batman birthday cake and I'm looking at him furiously". Ha Ha, Yeah Chaz, you are giving him the "evil eye" in this photo! But other than that it is extremely awesome! I love the birthday cake with the Batman graphics. That image of Batman & Robin running forward is actually a classic piece of clip-art used on many different products. Also, the costume is great!! I hope you & your brother get along better now (joke) & thank you very much for sending this photo. I love old photos like this so if any other Bat-Blog Readers have any vintage pics then please e-mail them in today!
