I wanna thank my friend Rawb for sending the link to this very cool website that has a Custom 1966 Batmobile Paper Model Kit ( the George Barris Car for the 60's TV Show ) you can download & make. In the "urban toys" sub-culture there are many designers, crafts people, & artists who are very serious about creating these custom paper toy models for the masses. This one is extremely awesome & I knew I had to share it here! It was created by an artist named Marshall Alexander & ya gotta admit he did a great job. These are pretty fun to build so please make one today! Here's a link to get the download with instructions.

Here's a really great website to check out! The DC Hero Zone & McDonalds have teamed up to bring you these FREE amazing online cartoons titled "HOW TO BUILD THE PERFECT BAT TRAP" featuring the superheroes & villains from LEGO BATMAN: The VIDEO GAME. These animated films are pretty fun to watch & also really nice quality. Here's a link. ( Oh yeah, if you need to use a password then try "batman" ).

Right now everybody is very excited about the soon-to-be-released LEGO BATMAN: The Video Game so I thought I would post these 4 nifty Desktop Wallpaper Backgrounds that are from the Official WB website. The 1st one is my favorite, a nice action scene with the Dynamic Duo! But, the one with the Joker & Harley Quinn is pretty nice too, enjoy!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Bob, sent us this awesome photo yesterday with the following e-mail message, "I like your BatBlog site. Lots of goodies. I'm a long time Batman fan ( born in 1962 ), so I was a perfect age when the TV show was originally on. I'm also a Rambler American Motors car buff. About 7 years ago or so an AMC Javelin ( a 1973 or 1974 I think ) done up like the Batmobile showed up on eBay. I don't know anything about it, other than a buddy sent me the picture." HA HA, Thanks Bob. I seriously LOVE this Homemade Batmobile!! It's hilarious! Plus, he actually did a pretty good job on it. The huge tail-fins kinda crack me up. This would be awesome to drive on the weekends. I bet my nephews would flip-out if I showed up at their house in this, ha ha! Thanks again for sending the pic, I appreciate that. If any other Bat-Blog Readers have cool stuff like this to share then please send us some photos. Our "e-mail button" is always at the top right-hand side of this page...AWESOME!!
I discovered an artist on the internet the other day who, I think, lives in Italy. At least I think his site is in Italian. ( If not, I apologize ). But, the main thing, is that his comic strip cartoon-style is pretty funny & he does a really great parody of Batman he calls BATTMANN. Shown up above are some examples of his work & you can see more by visiting his site ( link button down below ). His name is Mario Perrotta. Oh one last thing, the 2 large pictures up above are actually BATTMANN WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS ! Click on them for the larger version & send to your desktop...ENJOY!

I have an artist friend on MySpace who is also a really big Batman Fan. Recently he was inspired by the Vintage 1960's Batman Aurora Model Kit. For people who have never seen this kit I'm showing a photo of it as an example. OK, now do you see what I'm talking about? WOW, this looked exactly like it as soon as I saw it, funny! Be sure to check out his other artwork, his stuff is pretty cool. But, please remember to BOOKMARK the Bat-Blog before ya go!

OK, I never get political here at the Bat-Blog but I thought these pictures were pretty funny & decided to share them. I know that some Republicans are going to be total cry-babies over the "Sarah Palin" parody humor photo of her as the Joker but please remember that it's ONLY a joke. I'm not personally criticizing her or anything. So, don't flood me with e-mails, ok? But, ya gotta admit, it's hilarious! The 2nd photo is an actual piece of Batman merchandise that was made in 1960's. It's a poster of Batman & Robin as Hubert Humphrey & Lyndon B. Johnson ( or, as they say in Texas, LBJ! ). It's extremely RARE & is highly sought-after by both Batman & Political Memorabilia Collectors.Labels: Batman and Robin, Funny, Humor, Parody, Political, Political Cartoon, Politics, Sarah Palin, The Joker
Our friend Zdravko has found what could be the very 1st "Bootleg Batman Item" from the new movie. He lives in Bulgaria & found this while shopping for school supplies. He said it was "Made in China", that's funny! It actually looks like a real product, that's kinda scary!Labels: batman, Bootleg, Bulgaria, Funny, Humor, Parody, school supplies, The Dark Knight
Here's a photo of another Bat-Blog Reader's Joker Tattoo. I'm always impressed with how they are so different & each one has it's own style. This one is pretty awesome! It was sent in by a friend named Nick. He wrote, "Hey, My name is Nick. I frequent the Bat-Blog quite often and have been checking out the tattoo section quite a bit and thought that my Joker might add nicely the collection...It was done by Autumn Tierny at Riverview Tattoo in Brewer, Maine and took about 5 hours, give or take a few minutes." Cool, thanks Nick! Please tell Autumn he does awesome work. The Joker tattoo looks great! Five hours? That's crazy man... I couldn't stand the pain that long, ha ha! A side-note to the readers of this blog: I always get excited when readers participate so if any of you have some cool stuff to send then please do.

I guess I need to apologize for the lack of posts recently but the last few days I have been sicker than a dog! I have barely been able to get outta bed, ha ha! Today is the 1st day I have felt "ok" so I thought I would get a few things on here while I have a chance. Now, one of my favorite things about doing this blog is how awesome most of the readers are. I swear I'm not trying to suck-up, ha ha. But seriously, you guys send me some great stuff & I appreciate that! Here's the perfect example: Posted above are 3 Batman-Themed Desktop Wallpapers sent in by Bat-Blog Readers. Actually, they are JOKER-related, ha ha! The 1st one shows The Joker ( lookin' extremely crazy ) wearing a straight-jacket in Arkham Asylum. It was done by a friend named Bacon who's a regular contributor. His stuff is always awesome! ( Thanks Bacon, you rock, Sir ). The next 2 were done by a friend named "Moth", his real name is Pete, and they're really cool too! They are Joker Wallpaper Backgrounds made with many different images of Joker, sort of a collage. All the images are hand-picked & very high-quality...good job! ( Thanks Pete for sending these, I appreciate that ). In fact I was just thinking that the 2 collage wallpapers would be really awesome for a MySpace page!

I recently got an e-mail from a reader named Iris who wrote, "I'm a Batman-Collector from Germany. The Bat-Blog Site is very good. Here I send you some Photos of my Batman-Item`s. I collect Batman-Item`s from the whole world. I buy Batman-Item`s in America through eBay. My English is not so good, but I hope you understand what I mean." Yes, Iris. I understand. Your English is very good. I understand how hard it is to communicate in another language that you do not speak & I appreciate your effort, good job. WOW! It looks like you have an amazing collection! ( Readers, please click on the above photos for larger versions where you can see a lot of neat stuff ). I recognize a lot of it as American but you also have a nice selection of foreign toys as well. I see a lot of French items, that's cool. These photos are great & thanks again for communicating with us. Please stay in touch. I want to invite ALL the Batman Collectors from around the world to please send us photos of your collections. Sharing the fun of this hobby is what the Bat-Blog is all about!

Batman Tattoo Photos, SWEET!! Tonight I got an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader named Brian who wrote, "A week before the Dark Knight movie came out, my sister, her Boyfriend, and I, all went to get Batman, Batgirl, and Robin Tattoos. They always make fun of me because I am a huge Batman Fan, so I started to call them "Batgirl and Robin", well we all went to get our Tattoos together." Awesome story Brian & thanks for sending the great photos, I appreciate that. The artwork on these are really well done, nice & sharp. Plus, I like the coloring. Especially on the "Batman Logo" one, what with the blue exploding aura around the symbol & all. It's also pretty neat that they all got one too, that's cool. If any other readers have Bat-Tattoo photos & stories to share then please do. Our "e-mail button" is always on the top right-hand side of this page.

Here's a link to a very simple website that does an amazing job at featuring many of the vintage trading card sets from the 1930's to the 1980's. One such set is the "Topps Batman Deluxe Reissue Edition". That trading card set came out around the time of the 1989 Batman movie. Basically it reprinted the classic Topps 1966 Batman cards. If you visit the site you can see a scan of both the front/back of each card. Also, they feature many other classic card sets like Superman The Movie, KISS Rock Group, Mars Attacks, Odd Rods, The Incredible Hulk TV Series, Charlie's Angels TV Show, Green Hornet TV Stickers, etc...way too many to list here & it's a nice trip down memory lane. Thanks to Patron for sending the link!

Our friends over at PLAN 9 TATTOO & ART GALLERY sent us these photos of some very recently done JOKER tattoos. Of course they are both the "Heath Ledger version" from The Dark Knight Batman movie. I like how they sort of look like they were done in pastel chalk with the way they are so "soft" looking. Good job guys!! If any other tatoo artists have some photos of Batman-related artwork you have inked then please send it in. That also includes people who have had tattoos done too!

Here's some nice photos from a friend on MySpace. The 1st one is a very cool costume not only because it's really well done, but because it's such an obscure Batman villian, The Mad Hatter! The next group of photos shows a more recently made Halloween costume. This one is the Scarecrow. I think the mask is extremely nice. The mouth-stitches looks really good & the hangman's noose around the neck is kinda creepy. OK, very creepy! So, this is making me wonder. For Halloween this year what kind of costume are you, the reader, gonna wear? Or maybe, another way to ask, is what Batman character have you been in the past? Please send us your favorite family photos or just comment down below on what character you might dress-up as this year. The Joker? Batgirl? The Dark Knight?

OK, Regular readers of the Bat-Blog all know how totally excited I am about this new book by Chip Kidd titled BAT-MANGA! THE SECRET HISTORY OF BATMAN IN JAPAN. The basic premise of the book is that in Japan, during the 1966 Batman TV Show craze in the US, a weekly Japanese Manga magazine called SHONEN KING licensed the rights to do its own Batman and Robin stories. Both the artwork & stories were totally original. They were never collected in Japan, and never translated into English. Now, in this awesome new book, hundreds of pages of Batman-manga comics more than four decades old are translated for the first time, appearing alongside stunning photographs of the world’s most comprehensive collection of vintage Japanese Batman toys. The Batman Memorabilia from Japan in the 1960's will include a ton of Batmobile Tin Toys, Tin Toy Robots, Dolls, Vinyl Figures, etc...way too much to list here! OK, now, you're probably wondering, what are the 4 comic pages up above?? Well, Chip Kidd is a big fan of the Bat-Blog & was kind enough to send a few pages of his book to be featured here! I'm not sure if this is an EXCLUSIVE but it's still pretty cool to get an e-mail from such a well-respected Batman Collector & Author! Anyways, these pages represent a part of one of the stories in the book titled "The Man Who Quit Being Human". Now, if you click on the above graphics then they will enlarge to a readable size. Another thing to remember is that they are formatted for Japanese audiences & you will have to "read them backwards". Another way to explain it is you read them top to bottom & right to left ( not "left to right" like we Americans read ). I know it's kinda disorienting but once you get the hang of it you'll really enjoy reading this story...it's wonderful! I seriously love the old vintage-style artwork. Another neat thing they did with these stories is they photographed the actual Japanese magazines to get the artwork because all of the original art is incomplete or totally gone forever. Another thing they did was make the photos so extremely sharp & super-high resolution that it's like you are reading the original magazines & getting the same exact experience that Japanese kids enjoyed way back then. It's a very cool concept from a "graphic art" point of view. The book comes out October 28th, 2008 & I can't wait! I wanna thank Chip Kidd for sending these pages to share with my readers, that's awesome!!Labels: Bat-Manga, batman, Book, Chip Kidd, History, Japan, Japanese, Manga
I have had this picture for a few days but needed to confirm it before posting. This is a "Teaser Image" of the HOT TOYS Harvey Dent Two-Face Figure ( Large Doll ) they plan to release later. Everybody is very excited about this! HOT TOYS is really well-known for their high-quality products. If you remember the "Joker Bank Robber" figure we featured here awhile back then that should give you a good idea. They did such a great job at sculpting the head for this figure that it looked exactly like a photo of the actor Heath Ledger! So, it's gonna be neat to see how much this one looks like Aaron Eckhart. Please stay tuned with the Bat-Blog & when the toy company finally releases some new photos we'll feature then here. In the meanwhile, what do you think about the idea of a Two-Face figure?!!

Here at the Bat-Blog we have a friend named Zdravko who's a Batman Toy Collector that lives in Bulgaria. Yeah, Bulgaria! One of the things I love about doing this blog is getting to meet people from all over the world. Zdravko is a really nice guy & it's cool that he likes The Dark Knight & Batman Collectors RULE! Anyway, he sent some new photos of his current collection on display. He's got some really neat stuff. ( Be sure to click on them for larger, more detailed, shots ). I also like how it's displayed. What you see here is mostly items he just found recently. He's got way more stuff than this, believe me! I especially like the 4 Batman PEZ dispensers because of their "foreign packaging". But everything here is really great, check it out! Oh, one last thing, if you, the readers, have any photos of your personal collection that you would like to share then please send them in. The main focus of this blog is all about the joys of collecting Batman!Labels: Action Figures, Bulgaria, Bulgarian, PEZ, The Dark Knight
OK, this is really kinda funny! Here at the Bat-Blog it is Batman 24 hours a day. I mean, Batman Batman all the time! We cover new product releases, vintage toys, etc...we try to share the love of the character & the joys of collecting. I honestly hardly ever post anything personal unless it is really affecting me at the time. It's my blog & I have that freedom. But, I realize people don't wanna hear about my boring life so I keep it to an extreme minimum, ha ha! Well, the other day, totally by accident, I found a stray dog. We have ended up keeping him & it was never planned. His name is Jasper. I did a small post about it because it was sort of an amazing day. I just thought I would share a little bit about my life & then get right back to Batman. The funny thing is that people have gone totally crazy over Jasper...they all love him! We have received a ton of comments, e-mails, instant messages, & even phone calls, it's hilarious! But all the letters have been really nice & we really appreciate that. Thank you. Some people have asked, "How is he doing? Did you take him to a vet?" Ya see, I found him at a busy intersection where he had been abandoned ( some people are jerks ). So here's the news. We took him to a vet & they said he would be fine. That he had worms, real bad. They gave him some medicine & a shot. Plus, they kept him overnight for observation. The doctor said he did real well all night & when we went to pick him up he looked 200 times better. He was also way more active & happy. You could really notice an improvement in his personality. So, it looks like he's gonna do great! Also, we found out that he is a Pitbull, maybe a slight mix with another breed, but mostly Pitbull. His coloring is a dark & light brown color, sort of splotchy. We love him & he should be back to 100% full heath in a week or two. Again, sorry about sharing all the dumb info on my life but it's an event that was important to me at the time. Also, again, we appreciate all the kind letters...Thanks.
Every Wednesday you can find 2 brand-new Batman-related desktop wallpapers ( 1024 X 768 px ) that you can't find anywhere else. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday"! This time I thought I would go with a "Black & White" theme. The 1st one is a graphic done by a fan-favorite, the Super-Amazing Fred Hembeck! His funny cartoon-style is really great! He sort of did an homage to Batgirl with this artwork, nice. The 2nd one is the original commercial art used for the cover of one of those "Batman 1940's Dailies & Sunday Comics" books. Ya know, the ones that reprinted the classic comic strips from the golden age of Batman. They hired Peter Poplaski to design some art that had a vintage feel to it & he did a really great job! Do you have an idea for wallpaper or some image you would like to see? Send us an e-mail & let us know. We always try to have really good backgrounds & also a lot of good variety. Your suggestions usually remind us that, "Hey, I haven't seen any Robin, The Boy Wonder Wallpaper in awhile". Thanks.

Here's the latest addition to our family, his name is "JASPER"!! ( My wife named him, not me, ha ha ). Yesterday I left the house to go pick up some dinner & was in kind of a hurry to get back. There was something on TV that I didn't want to miss. I approached the 1st intersection from my house & got a red light. I stopped & while sitting there, all of a sudden, I saw this little puppy sitting exactly in the middle of this busy 4-lane intersection. Cars were weaving & hitting their brakes doing everything to try to not hit this little guy. He was kind of confused & was running as fast as he could one way, then another. I thought I gotta get out & go get him, he's gonna cause a wreck or worse get run over! I slammed on my emergency brake. Ran over & picked him up. A few people thanked me because he seriously was causing a lot of trouble & could have easily got run over ( which was my worst fear ). He looked like he had not eaten in a few days. I drove down the street to a local market & bought some dog food. I bought a small bag of dry that he could eat while we took care of him but I also bought a small can of wet food that I could feed him right away. When I got back to the car I opened the small can & put it in the floorboard of my truck. I placed him down there & with 1 second he was wolfing it down. By the time I got to the restaurant to pick up our food he had already wolfed down 95% of it, ha ha! I guess he was hungry! Later we went to the store & got some dog shampoo. He smelled pretty bad! He was also covered in fleas. He really loved getting a bath. I bet it made him feel a lot better plus we got most of the fleas off of him. Here's a photo we took later. We don't know at all what kind of dog he is. Does anyone here know what sort of breed he is?
Our friend Zdravko took some really great photos showing the 2 Batman Cereal Boxes in Bulgaria! Of course this was for the recent THE DARK KNIGHT movie promotion. The 1st picture is an advertisement out of some magazine, very cool! The next 3 photos show the actual cereal boxes with 1 pic showing the back. There were 4 premiums there that are all different than the American ones, especially the Scarecrow figure! Be sure to check out Zdravko's website for other foreign goodies.

Our friend Paul sent this amazing photo showing some HUGE giant-size Batman & Robin Sculptures made from Lego pieces! Of course they were made to hype the new LEGO BATMAN: The Video Game. He saw these recently at a trade show he goes to for his business. He owns a clothing store in Denver, Colorado called Fashionation, a very cool shop! Anyway, he's a big Batman Fan so I know he probably freaked out when he saw these! I bet he even thought about stealing them but they probably weigh a ton! Ha Ha, just kidding Paul, thanks for sending the awesome pics. I appreciate that!Labels: Advertising, batman, Lego, Robin, Sculpture, Video Game, Videogame
My friends & family know that, besides being a crazy Batman Fan, I also really love ART. I mean, just this weekend I went to 3 art gallery openings, ha ha. So, I wanted to share this artwork from an artist I really like. His name is Tommy Kane. He's an illustrator & painter. Shown here are just a few examples of his fine art. The first one is a large canvas with the image of Adam West as Batman from the classic 1966 TV Guide cover, very cool! POW! The 2nd painting shows Robin, The Boy Wonder ( Burt Ward ). He also does some smaller pieces on cardboard which is a really neat material to use. This example shows Batgirl. He makes a lot of pop culture references in his work. You can see Roy Rogers, Astroboy, The Lone Ranger, Pee Wee Herman, Green Hornet & Kato, among others. Here's a link to check out his page. But, please be sure to bookmark the Bat-Blog before ya go! Also, Be sure to check out the Bat-Blog ARCHIVES for many more examples of Batman-Inspired ART!

I thought it was time to post a few pictures of Batman toys from the past. So, here we go! The 1st photo is from a friend in Chicago who really loves the RARE & obscure vintage Batman toys. He recently sent us this great photo of a 1970's BATMAN OFFICIAL BATCYCLE Remote-Control Toy, with Original Box. I seriously love this thing, it's awesome! Plus, you don't see too many of the vintage "Batman on Motorcycle" toys so that's cool. The 2nd photo is pretty amazing also. This is an original store display to sell 70's BATMAN SUPERHERO PUFFY-STICKERS. I guess this hung behind the counter & you would say, "Hey, give me a Robin, Catwoman, & The Joker!" This one looks unused & is extremely RARE. I love the vintage graphics that are all over this thing, especially the header-card part. The last photo is the OFFICIAL BATMAN SHOOTING ARCADE. Again, the vintage 70's graphics are wonderful. This is a very hard-to-find item, even loose. But to see it in the box is a treat. I wanna take this time to ask all Bat-Blog Readers with RARE toys to please send some pics to share. That's the main focus of the Bat-Blog, sharing the joys of collecting Batman!Labels: 1970's, 70's, Bat-Cycle, batman, Collector, Memorabilia, Merchandise, Vintage Toys

There's a comic strip called BIZARRO that is usually pretty funny! Most of the time I like the humor & the artwork is always very cool. The cartoonist's name is Dan Piraro. Shown here is an example of his work. It features Batman in danger! I think this artist is a really big Batman Fan because it seems like he makes a reference to the character every few months, that's cool.Labels: batman, Bizarro, Comic Strip, Dan Piraro, Funny, Humor
New Batman Sneakers! ACI International has just recently created three different styles, each featuring one of three DC Comics characters - Superman, Batman, and The Joker. The shoes retail for $110 per pair. Not too bad a price for designer sneakers. The shoe I am focusing on here, in this post, is the Batman Sneaker. ( I'll have some nice sharp photos of The Joker shoes in another post ). It will be limited to only 1,939 pairs ( that number is special because it's the year of the very first appearance of the character - 1939 ). The quality of the design looks pretty excellent. Shoe companies usually go kinda overboard when they design "comic book character" shoes but these are tastefully done. The shoe is all black with some gray & yellow accents. The rubber sole is bright yellow which is kinda cool. On the tongue is a yelow label with nice Batman artwork. The sides of the shoe show a picture of Batman with Gotham City in the background. There is also some black leather with the word "Batman" embossed in a repeated pattern. On the backs of the shoe the names "Bruce" & "Wayne" are on each individual shoe so when you look at them it reads, "Bruce Wayne". That's actually kinda clever. There is also a black "Bat-Logo" stitched on the side, near the front. Even the shoe box is well designed as the lid features original art by Jim Lee. According to the Press Release these Limited Edition Sneakers will ONLY BE AVAILABLE at the "Limited Soles" website, click the button down below to check them out!

Our good friend Charles "Chunky B" over at the ECLECTORAMA website send us some really great photos of this amazing piece of Batman Memorabilia! It's an original sales brochure from the Glastron Boat Co. They were the makers of the original Bat-Boat as seen in the 1966 Batman movie with Adam West & Burt Ward. Charles used to have some so-workers who actually worked there. In fact, one of the guys was in charge of test-driving the thing. Yeah, oh my god...they wouldn't have to pay me to do that, ha ha! One of them kept one of these brochures. ( Be sure to click on the photos up above for larger, more readable, versions ). Charles has a really neat story about it at his website. Here's a link button to check it out but please remember to BOOKMARK the Bat-Blog before ya go!

OK, today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" so I thought I would be nice & post THREE new wallpaper backgrounds instead of TWO...Ya' know, because I am so cool, ha ha. The 1st one is a large photo I found the other day that's pretty awesome. It's a "Behind-The-Scenes" look at filming "The Batman and Joker Interrogation Scene" from The Dark Knight movie. It shows Heath Ledger & Christian Bale acting & all the camera people standing around, a nice piece of Bat-History! ( RIP Heath ) The 2nd one is a piece of Original Art done by Sheldon Moldoff, a Golden Age creator. I seriously love that Batmobile car & it's also kinda neat to see the older version of Batwoman...nice. The 3rd desktop wallpaper is another piece of original art but more modern. It's a graphic with Batman, Hush, & Catwoman. It was done by Dustin Nguyen for the soon-to-be-released issue of Detective Comics # 350. I think it's done in watercolor or at least it has that effect. Please let me know which one is your favorite, enjoy!

I noticed over at eBay that "Philip Weiss Auctions" is offering an amazing piece of Batman art. It's the original Batman # 173 Comic Book Cover as drawn by CARMINE INFANTINO! The estimated price is around $25,000. Yeah, you read that right...twenty-five thousand! This is a little outta my price range but it's still wonderful to see. Shown up above is the original piece of art they're offering & next to that is a photo I found of the comic book ( for reference ). This is a great masterpiece of Bat-History!! Remember, be sure to click on the small graphic up above for a larger, more detailed, version!Labels: art, artist, batman, Carmine Infantino, comic book, Cover, eBay, Original Art

SCULPTED BY KAREN PALINKO The popular BATMAN BLACK & WHITE line of artist-inspired statues continues! Renowned illustrator/comic book artist George Pérez designed this classic vision of Batman, featuring the Caped Crusader in a classic pose, prepared as always to defend Gotham City. Painted in monochromatic tones, this statue is certain to be another sought-after addition to DC Direct's line of BATMAN BLACK & WHITE statues. The statue measures approximately 7' tall x 6.5' wide x 5' deep. It features a logo-shaped base and is packaged in a black-and-white box. Here's a link button to buy it for a good deal at the TFAW Batman Store.

For fans of the 1960's Batman Movie here's a neat collectible to keep an eye out for, the September 1966 issue of Popular Mechanics magazine. They did a special story about the Bat-Boat used in the film & it's a very obscure piece of Bat-Memorabilia. It was originally made by the Glastron Boat Company in Austin, TX.Labels: 1960's, 1966, 60's, Bat-Boat, batman, Movie, Vehicles

Here's a quick post showing some of the cool looking graphics from the soon-to-be-released BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM Video Game. The Joker is looking like the classic comic book version but he also sort of resembles BOTH Jack Nicholson AND Heath Ledger, just a little bit, kinda weird! Batman, of course, is the gray & black version...awesome!Labels: Arkham Asylum, batman, joker, The Joker, Video Game, Videogame
On Livejournal there's this very intelligent ( or at least extremely smart, clever, & humorous ) person who has made an amazing observation that Christian Bale & Kermit The Frog are doppelgangers. In German Philosophy there's a theory that every person on earth has a double. A person that is exactly like them in every way but lives in another country or another time. That each of us are not totally unique but "have existed before" or at least have a double. It's one of those things that can never be proven to be true. But, as a theory it mainly exists to make you think about the possibilities. I think this is what this person has done with Bale & Kermit...ha ha! The great thing about this observation is the attention to study. I mean, if it were just 5-6 photos then it would just be a coincidence. But this person shows sooo many examples that it starts to boggle the mind. Here, I am only showing you 3 pictures to give you an idea. But, if you go check out this person's page you'll see what I'm talking about. It's great ( Just click the link button down below ). I don't think it's a serious study, mainly for fun or humor. But what if it's true?

Ha Ha Ha Ha, a friend to the Bat-Blog, named Stephen, sent this hilarious photo of himself. He explains, "I won this Ideal Batman Helmet on ebay about a week ago, and it came in today as I was on my way to work...at a comic book store. :) So, here's a picture of me hard at work!" Great photo Stephen, I love it! This classic 1960's toy is awesome! I know my readers will get a kick outta this, I appreciate that. Now... get back to work!

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Chip, sent these 2 amazing photos showing this ultra-cool & extremely-rare BATMAN BAT-JET TOY PLANE! It was made in Argentina in 1967. I think he sent these pics just to torture me, ha ha! In all my years of collecting Bat-Memorabilia I have NEVER ever seen this thing, it's completely beautiful! Actually, "sharing the joy of Batman Toy collecting" is the main purpose of the Bat-Blog so that's perfect. All kidding aside, thanks Chip for sending these, I appreciate that!Labels: 1960's, 60's, Argentina, Bat-Jet, batman, Toys, Vintage

OK, there's no release date yet but the project has the "green light" so we'll have to see. On the success of "Tiny Titans" DC Comics is planning on releasing a new comic book titled "DCU ELEMENTARY". It's gonna be made for small children & the artwork is awesome! Basically it's like the entire DC Universe are little kids & back in school, even the bad guys. So far the list of characters include: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Flash, Lobo, The Penguin, Joker, Catwoman, Man-Bat, Mr. Freeze, Clayface & a few others. Be sure to click on the photo of the kids racing soapbox derby cars because there's a neat looking Batmobile. Also in that photo, something that's kinda funny, is Wonder Woman's car is invisible, ha ha! Now, I know a lot of purists are gonna be totally crybaby about this but ya gotta think about tiny little kids...they need reading entertainment also!Labels: batman, DC Comics, DCU Elementary, kids, Superman, The Joker, Wonder Woman
A Bat-Blog Reader named Joel sent us this vintage family photo that totally cracks me up! Of course I mean that in a good way but I love old pictures like this that show young Bat-Fans all happy & proud. Look at their faces, this is great stuff! I'm guessing these 2 kids just got these for Christmas & were really happy about it. Obviously we're talking about the "Batman & Robin Pajamas". Joel didn't tell us the year the picture was shot but I'm guessing late 70's or very early 1980's. Thanks for sharing the photo Joel, it's awesome! If any other readers have memories like this to share then please send them in today!Labels: 1970's, 1980's, 70's, 80's, Batman and Robin, Family, Merchandise, Photo, Vintage
Recently, a Bat-Blog Reader sent us some photos of some crafts she's made & some that she is working on. She made some Batman-themed Dresses that I featured in another posting. ( Just scroll down a little or check the Bat-Archives ). She also made some of the items posted here. The first photo is a really cute JOKER / HEATH LEDGER Plush Rag Doll. This was one of my favorite pieces because it's so funny. When you look at the details it's pretty accurate to the character & it has a very silly irony to it. I'm not sure if "irony" is the right word to use but what I mean is that the actual movie character was so extremely dark & scary and this doll is cute & lovable...complete opposites. I don't know, I thought the juxtaposition was humorous. Plus, it's just very well done & the materials look like they are really nice quality. The next items she made are very cool too & for the male readers who are kinda skittish, please check it out anyway. The next photos show a purse that was completed ( both sides ) & the last photo is one she is working on now. The completed one features Christian Bale as Batman with the actress who played Lois Lane on TV's Smallville. Sort of a strange choice but she loves both characters so that's cool. Plus there's kind of a "humor thing" going on there so let's just go with it, it's fun. It's a collage of magazine photos. The back features 2 large photos of Christian Bale & The Dark Knight...very nice! My wife collects purses & would completely flip-out if she saw these, ha ha! The last pic is of a purse about 1/2 way done. This creation features both the Batman & Joker ( Heath Ledger ) and so far looks really cool. Let's hope she sends us a photo of the completed item ( Hint, Hint ). Anyways, sorry to go on forever but this is some great stuff & I love when Bat-Fans get creative so if you're working on any Batman-related projects ( Custom Action Figures, Crafts, Painting, Dolls, Drawing, etc...) then please send them in to us to share. Thanks.Labels: art, artist, Artwork, batman, Christian Bale, Crafts, Heath Ledger, joker, Purse, The Dark Knight, The Joker

For Bat-Fans who have been living under a rock for the last few years "Gotham Public Works" is a charitable organization of cosplayers who are pretty serious about their costumes. They dress-up for all the major comic book conventions & are developing a sort-of cult following. They also show-up at children's hospitals, in costume, for the kids. Well now they have advanced into the world of fan-made film. Their latest adventure is called BATMAN: FORSAKEN. Their plans are to release this in small parts like a movie serial. Up above is the movie poster which looks pretty good. I have also put the "teaser movie trailer" video down below for you to check out. The quality of the video is very excellent, looks production made. Nice lighting, good sound, interesting camera work, etc...and of course, incredible costumes. For me I think the costumes are the most impressive. I mean, they take cosplay to the next level. The attention to details is totally insane! You'll see the Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, Batman, Batgirl ( Cassandra version ), The Huntress, & Catwoman ( my favorite )! Please enjoy the video & then afterwards let us know what you think about it by leaving a comment down below, thanks.

OK, With all the recent craziness on the Dark Knight Batman movie I have been kinda neglecting the main focus of this webpage & it's the love of collecting the old Vintage Batman Toys. Well, it's about the brand-new stuff too but ya' know what I mean. Here are a few wonderful toys from the past. The 1st example is a TALKING BATPHONE made by Palitoy ( a British toy company ). It's from 1976 & the graphics on the original box are awesome! I think the artwork was done by Neal Adams, not exactly sure, but it has his realistic style. The 2nd photo shows something that I have never seen before. It's a Batman Train Car ( from Canada ). It has a special Bat-Signal attached to it. Looks like it also came with 2 figures, pretty sweet! The 3rd example is one of my all-time favorite pieces of comic book memorabilia & that's these wacky cans of CRAZY FOAM. Of course the main thing here is the Batman & Robin ones but they made a lot of other DC & Marvel Comic characters too: Superman, Amazing Spiderman, & The Incredible Hulk! If you don't remember these they were just aerosol cans with "soap foam" & they were in the shape of cartoon characters. As a very little kid I vividly remember having the Superman one & one day I asked my Mom if she knew where he was, as I wanted to play with him, & she said, "Oh, I'm sorry, I threw it away"...NnnOoo! Alright, I'm OK, I'm OK, really. Let's move on. For the 4th photo I saved the best for last! This pic was sent in by a loyal Bat-Blog Reader who has this totally insane Batman Collection. This is only one item he has out of a huge assortment of hard-to-find goodies but it's pretty RARE! This is the BATMAN and THE JOKER ELECTRONIC TARGET GAME. It's got this extremely cool large figure of Joker that reacts to a light-beam shot from a Western-Style Gun ( yeah, very very weird! ). It was made by the Vanity Fair Toy Company. Thanks JR for sending this very cool photo! I want to invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers with RARE Batman items to please send us some pics. Sharing the love of Batman toy collecting is what the Bat-Blog is all about!Labels: 1970's, 70's, batman, Batphone, Crazy Foam, joker, Memorabilia, Telephone, The Joker, Vintage Toys
Today while surfing the net I came across a very interesting website created by a Batman Toy Collector. It's called BATMANICO & it's run by Alberto in Argentina. The page was started just recently & has some serious "layout issues" that I hope to help him with. But, other than that, he showcases an amazing collection of both new & vintage Batman memorabilia! Here's one small example: I nearly freaked out when I saw this Vintage 1966-Style Batmobile Pedal Car, it's crazy!! If I read the page correctly the toy pedal car was made in 1968. He also has an original advertisement for the vintage pedal car...nice! To see more of this guy's amazing Batman collection please click on the link button down below. But, remember to BOOKMARK the Bat-Blog before ya go!!

Every Wednesday is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" at the Bat-Blog so I thought I would post these 2 Batman Desktop Backgrounds that are scans from a Japanese Magazine Advertisement for the new Bandai "The Dark Knight" Batman Figure & Bat-Pod Vehicle. Later this year Bandai will be releasing a special Batman Figure & Bat-Pod that a lot of collectors are really excited about. I'll be doing a post about it later but for now just drool over these pics, enjoy!

These pictures are just a quick overview of a brand-new Lego Batman Play Set called "The Tumbler: Joker's Ice Cream Surprise" #7888. It features the new Tumbler Batmobile & a very cool looking Joker Van. It also comes with 3 figures: Batman, The Joker, & one of Joker's Goons. Looks like it also has approx. 11 various weapons for the characters to use.The attention to detail is awesome! I really love these toys & later this year they plan to release the new LEGO BATMAN video game. I might have to get this as a gift for one of my nephews at Christmas, it's crazy!

Ha Ha Ha Ha! My friend Stephanie sent this totally hilarious Batman-themed comic strip today. It's done by a cartoonist named Mark Parisi & his comic strip is titled OFF THE MARK ( a very clever name ). It's pretty self-explanatory so just read it to enjoy the humor. Thanks to Stephanie for sending this in, it's great!Labels: Bat-Signal, batman, Comic Strip, Funny, Humor, Mark Parisi, OFF THE MARK
The other day I received a nice letter from a Batman-Fan who likes to create crafts inspired by the character. She's an artist who makes clothing, purses, toys, etc...all with a Dark Knight theme. She sent a lot of pictures & I plan to post them all, but for now I'm just showing the 2 Batman Dresses & Teddy Bear she made. Her words explain them better than I can so here's what she wrote, "Just writing to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. I visit it practically daily and love all the great bat finds you show off. :) Thanks so much for all your time and effort. I thought you might get a kick out of some of the Bat creations I have put together for myself--mainly for con wear and what not. What can I say? Like you, I'm obsessed about the Bat. First off is this costume I made to wear to Dragon Con last year. A group of my friends were all wearing Marie Antoinette inspired gowns, I decided to create mine with a Batman Begins flare. ;) The fabric is great -- has "The Dark Knight" and "Fear the Bat" written allover it, with of course the Bat symbol as the main print. You can't tell in the pic, but I had bats in my hair and of course I carried a mask to protect my identity.
This next dress is just a casual fun one I whipped up to wear around.
The 'purse' with a canteen that I re-worked to carry along.
Using some of the fabric from above, I made a quickie "Bat Bear" for
fun. I made a clay batarang that tops off his bow tie."
Wow! It looks like you have been going crazy with that sewing machine, ha ha! This is some very very cool stuff, really well done! Thanks for sending the photos & sharing your artwork. I've said this before in many other posts but I love it when Bat-Fans get creative. If it's a dress, a video, a custom toy, whatever...it's always neat to see this kinda stuff. I like the fact that so many fans & artists are inspired by the Batman character to make things like this, that's awesome! The dresses are very cool. I especially like the 2nd one with the Bat-Symbols all over it. That's something you can wear all the time. The 1st one is great too but it's more like a costume. The Teddy Bear is a lot of fun. I bet kids would really love that thing & toy collectors would enjoy displaying it. It would be kinda neat to display on your bed or as a "throw pillow" on your couch. I plan on posting your purses you made in another post ( I didn't want this one to be too long ). So, Readers, please be sure to check back later for a gallery-view of some awesome Batman-Inspired Purses, they're really nice! Thanks again for sending the pics, I appreciate that. If any other readers are creative & do any kind of thing like this then please send us some photo too!Labels: Bat-Symbol, batman, Clothing, Costume, Crafts, dresses, Logo, Teddy Bear

The other day I received an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader who also sent the wonderful photos you see up above. She wrote, "Hi Tommy, I love the Bat Blog page! My boyfriend is a frequent visitor of the page and just sent you a pic of his Joker leather jacket. I thought I would e-mail you a pic of my daughter. Her name is Zoe and she is a young Batman fanatic! She absolutely loves your page! Last year for her birthday we had a Batman theme. She loves both Batman and Wonder Woman. She even slides down our pole in the basement and pretends to live in the bat-cave. Well, last year for Halloween she was Batman, her favorite. I thought you might like the pic, so I'm attaching it for you. My 2 sons are also enclosed. Logan is a huge Robin fan and they often play Batman & Robin after watching the original TV series. My son Matt loves Superman. Their costumes were part of a dress up set by Lillian Vernon. We received all 3 together, complete with masks, for under $20.00 at a discount chain store. I hope you enjoy seeing such young fans! Keep up the great work on the site! We love it!" Wow, thanks for the kind words about the Bat-Blog & YES, I love pics of kids in Halloween costume! It's so great to see children all happy pretending to be their favorite superhero character. In these kind of photos you can always see the super-big smiles because they're usually so proud & having such a great time, that's awesome! Zoe, Logan, & Matt are all very cute kids & the costumes are pretty cool too. I appreciate you sharing these photos with us. Please be sure to keep these photos safe because when these kids get older they're gonna REALLY enjoy seeing them...trust me. These kinda pics always have a certain charm & are kinda fun. Thanks again.Labels: batman, Costume, Costumes, Halloween, Photos, Robin, Superman
It took some crunching but I finally got a photo of what the LEGO BATMAN : THE VIDEO GAME McDonald's Happy Meal Toy Set is gonna look like. There will be 4 figures: Batman, Robin, Mr. Freeze, & The Joker. There will also be 4 vehicles but I can only see 2 of them in this photo: the Batmobile & Joker Helicopter. This is not an official photo from McDonalds so let's hope better pics surface later. These will hit the restaurants on September 12th.
