United States Postal Service is Releasing a Set of #BATMAN "FOREVER STAMPS" October 9th! #USPS

BATMAN Book of 20 Stamps in 5 Designs | Forever $0.49

For 75 years, Batman has protected Gotham City from the forces of evil. Since his debut, he has become one of the most iconic super heroes in history. This year, the U.S. Postal Service® chronicles the evolution of the character, from his origins to present day.

This new issuance showcases eight unique designs in a sheet of 20 stamps. Four versions of the iconic DC Comics super hero are depicted from four eras of comic book history. In addition, there are four incarnations of the Bat-Signal.

The first row of stamps features Batman with his fists clenched. This muscular, determined Caped Crusader has spent the Modern Age of Comics defending Gotham City from its most notorious villains.
The second row of stamps displays Batman dramatically staring up at the Bat-Signal. By the Bronze Age of Comics, artists had encased the super hero’s spare black bat emblem with a yellow oval. The insignia became the crime fighter’s trademark.

The third row of stamps shows Batman swooping into the frame with his cape flying behind him. The image, from the Silver Age of Comics, accentuates the super hero’s signature glowing white eyes and utility belt.

The bottom row of stamps highlights Batman as first envisioned by creator Bob Kane during the Golden Age of Comics. The super hero’s black cape and cowl and gray suit formed his iconic visual identity.

A column on the left side of the sheet includes four different circular stamps. Each is affixed with a different Bat-Signal, the spotlight Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon sent into the night sky to summon Batman.

The background illustration features a silhouette of Batman standing on a bridge with the skyline of Gotham City looming above him. The flip side of the sheet features two illustrations of Batman and text about the history of the character.

Art director Greg Breeding designed the stamp sheet.

The Batman stamps are being issued as Forever® stamps. These Forever stamps will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail® one-ounce rate.

Made in the USA.

#BATMAN IN THE ART WORLD - Actor John Malkovich Channels His Inner-JOKER!

In the Ultra-Serious Fine Art World right now there's something happening which is causing quite a buzz. The Actor John Malkovich teamed-up with a Photographer named Sandro Miller and their goal has been to create a show called, "MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, HOMAGE TO PHOTOGRAPHIC MASTERS".

Yes, they are reproducing extremely famous and very iconic works of art using John Malkovich as the model. Many of them are instantly recognizable and quite funny!

The show opens at the CATHERINE EDELMAN GALLERY on November 7th, 2014, and will run until January 31st, 2015. For more details, and to see way more of this kick ass artwork, just click the Gallery name up above.

Now, how does this relate to "Batman"? Well, one set of photos they decided to parody is the famous pics shot by the Fashion Photographer, Herb Ritts, of Jack Nicholson as "the Joker" from the 1989 BATMAN Movie.

This was a famous photo shoot even back then. For reference I'm showing one of the "Jack Nicholson" pics down below.

Armando's Custom SERIOUS FAN OF BATMAN THEME Dodge Charger!

OK, Here's a pretty cool story that also turned out to be a lot of fun! Awhile back I was hanging out at the Official Facebook Page for the BAT-BLOG BATMAN FAN SITE. While there I was contacted by a guy named Armando. He had sent me a friend request and then later said, "Hey, check out my BATMAN Car!". I did and it's pretty amazing!

Well, he then says something along the lines of, "Hey, I live in Lawton, OK and I have plans to come to Oklahoma City. Do you want to see it in person?" You see, OKC is where I live. "Oh my god, Yes!!", I said, ha!

We ended up meeting around 2:00 pm at a local McDonald's. That's Armando on the left, me on the right. Oh man, this car is even crazier in person! I mean, it's EXTREME!! The first thing you notice is an amazing paint job. My photos don't show it well, but the car is sort of a sparkly-black color. Not quite sure how to explain it. It's a little like metal-flake paint but toned down quite a bit, very subtle. It really looks more like an extremely DEEP black. It has the RED BAT-SYMBOL on each door and RED Pin-Striping all over. A nice tribute to the 1966 Batmobile by George Barris maybe?

The main reason I have so many pics is because I went a little crazy. I mean, almost every inch of this car has a special "Batman" emblem or symbol some place. The attention to detail is insane! But overall it's just a lot of fun. Some of the BATS are just vinyl decals but most of them are custom made pieces that are kind of like "clear-plastic bubbles". Sorry, not a good description but they're very well made, look crafted by hand too, sort of like clear jewels... really really nice!

The 6.4 Liter HEMI Engine is all tricked out and there is even some neon lighting in there. This thing has gotta be crazy cool at night time! Oh man, you know, with color-changing lights shooting out of the front grill. Armando said there was even NEON, under the car, as well.

So, everybody please take the time to look at each photo, all blown-up in large detail (click on them). This car is extremely cool and if you're a serious Batman Fan you're gonna love it!

My favorite touch was the console cabinet inside the car. Just check out those pics and the details... fun stuff!

Thank you Armando for contacting me and showing me your car. I feel like I have made a new friend, Thanks!

BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE + STAR WARS VII = FUN!

Well, it appears that there is a friendly "Twitter Fight" between the actual movie directors of BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE (Zack Snyder ) and STAR WARS VII (J.J. Abrams).

The image up above shows a digital photo uploaded by Zack Snyder that was sent to J. J. Abrams, showing a Star Wars Stormtrooper being arrested by the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD).

So, in response, J.J. sent this video of the Original Millennium Falcon that will be in STAR WARS VII, and the camera zooms-in on a "Batman" item!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! Let's hope they keep this "war" ongoing more.

#BATMAN TRIBUTE ART - Made With Love and Sidewalk Chalk!

While goofing around on Facebook the other day I received some artwork from an extremely talented artist who recently created a BATMAN TRIBUTE in, of all mediums, chalk! (Readers, please be sure to click on the photo up above for a larger, more detailed, version). It's really GREAT!

He wrote, "My Daughter, Son-in-law, and grandsons love the Bat-Blog. They suggested your page and said I had to send this your way. Desmond and Johnny love to make me, grandpa, get out the sidewalk chalk!"

WOW! OK, First off I totally know the family he's talking about, ha! They're all really great friends. These people are totally serious Batman Fans and really love the character. That, in itself, is very cool but I wanna thank their "Grandpa" for sharing his amazing artwork. Honestly, it's very well done and it's also extremely touching that they thought of the BAT-BLOG and wanted to share. Thanks everybody, I love you guys!

New 1966 ROBIN THE BOY WONDER Batman Moebius Model Kit BOX ART by Christopher Franchi

Photo Gallery: BATMAN THROUGH CREATIVITY a New Art Exhibit in Mexico

Here at the BAT-BLOG, about 10 days ago, we mentioned a Batman-themed Art Opening that was going on in Mexico that revolves around the 75th Anniversary of our beloved Caped Crusader. It's called "BATMAN THROUGH CREATIVITY" and it's still going on. For more info about the times/location of that show just CLICK HERE.

But now, the cool thing is, some people have finally posted a few photos showing us the artwork that is on display. It looks like most of the art is "sculptural" & revolves around THE BAT-MASK COWL.

There are many different ones made by a large variety of Artists, all with radically different styles and personalities. This is really GREAT because it creates a lot of diversity, or in other words, something for everybody!

I'm only showing a few examples here... but if you visit this website you can see way more. It's great stuff! Just CLICK HERE!
