TWO-FACE Batman Villain - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

This week I thought I would post 2 Batman Desktop Wallpapers that featured just 1 famous super-villain. But, which one? There are so many like: The Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, etc... The list could go on & on for days! But in the end, I sort of randomly picked TWO-FACE. Now, this is not the DARK KNIGHT movie version ( Aaron Eckhart ) but is the evil guy you see in the comic books. OK, well, that one background is a photo of a TWO-FACE Action Figure, but you get the idea! Do you have a favorite villain you would like to see as future wallpapers? A favorite Batman artist? Please send in your requests.

BATMAN VINYL MODEL KIT ( 1989 Michael Keaton Movie Version ) Built By Skinnybird!

For the next month or so, here at the Bat-Blog, we'll be featuring some Batman-related Model Kits built by a guy nick-named "Skinnybird". He's done an extremely excellent job on them & since it would be way too big for one post we thought we would spread them out. This first example is a Vinyl Model Kit of Michael Keaton as Batman from the 1989 Batman Movie. It was made by a company called Billiken & is 1/6 Scale! Personally I think he did a great job on it. The eyes look "alive" & that's usually the hardest part of making a "real-life human" model kit look so good. ( Remember, be sure to click on the above photos for larger versions ). OK, in the future, if you want to see more of these or see them all together just be sure to click on the word "skinnybird" in the Labels Area down below. That will make them all appear at once ( but for right now there's just this one, ha ha ). Seriously Folks, there are gonna be a lot of Batman Model Kits & they're all extremely nice!

PARTY!! The 7 Best Batman Birthday Cakes!

WOW! The Bat-Blog was recently mentioned in a post at the SUPERHERO-PARTIES website! They did a story on "the 7 Best Batman Birthday Cakes" & three of them were featured at the Bat-Blog at one time or another. That's awesome! The website was created to be helpful to parents who are trying to get ideas for superhero-themed birthday parties. I mainly like it because they feature a ton of wacky birthday cake photos. Stuff like: Superman, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Star Wars, & much more. Anyways, we're totally honored to be mentioned there & if you might be trying to plan a special Boy or Girl's Birthday Party ( or cool adult ) then please be sure to check out the site by clicking HERE!

NY Yankee's Baseball Team ROOKIE HAZING DAY with Batman Costumes!

Last Sunday, September 20th, the New York Yankee's Baseball Team had their annual "Rookie Hazing Day". I guess it's some kind of tradition or something where they make all the Rookies do stupid stuff, ha ha. Sorry, I'm not really familiar with sports that much but I thought it was great that they made them all dress-up in Batman costumes for the special event!! Just to name a few players: Rookie Pitcher Mark Melancon was Batman, Rookie Shortstop Ramiro Pena as Catwoman, and another Rookie Pitcher, Michael Dunn, dressed as The Riddler. There is also the Joker, The Penguin, etc... But anyway, the costumes are really well done & I think it's fun that they did it. I like their team spirit. I kinda feel sorry for the guy who had to be Catwoman, ha ha. ( Thanks to Gino for sending the link ). For more information about the event & many more pictures to enjoy, please be sure to visit the WFAN website by clicking HERE!

BATMAN: ODYSSEY Sneak Peak at The Artwork By NEAL ADAMS!

OK, We have mentioned this before at the Bat-Blog many times so it should be no surprise but for quite awhile now the legendary comic book artist Neal Adams has been working on a HUGE Batman 6-Part Graphic Novel Project titled BATMAN: ODYSSEY. Adams is creating both the story & the artwork ( awesome! ) Well, we finally have a sneak peak at what some of the art is gonna look like. Check out these beautiful pics, right here! Neal Adams said, "It's gonna be MY version of the Batman character". I'm sort of paraphrasing what he said but that's the jest of it. It's gonna be Batman the way HE thinks Batman should be done. So, it could be extremely great stuff! Now one thing I gotta mention is that Frank Miller is writing all the dialogue so let's all hope that it is as good as the drawings, ha!

Al Bigley's Classic Batman Comic Book Cover Recreation ©1976

We have a good friend here named Al Bigley who is a freelance graphic artist who works in comic books & advertising. He has a blog where he shares stuff he likes: Retro Toys, The Monkees, 1970's Marvel Comics, & DC Comics Art. Well, lately, he's been showcasing some comic book artwork he did when he was a very small child back in 1976. The stuff is pretty funny! I really like "Children's Art" so it's kinda neat to see, & actually, it's not too bad. Here's an example: This is Bigley's Cover Recreation of Batman #251. This is a very classic comic book with Neal Adams artwork & a famous Joker story. So, this project was pretty ambitious. Personally I think he did a great job on it. Now, I want to invite any & all Bat-Blog Readers who have some Batman related art to share to please send some. It can be stuff you did as a little kid or it can be current serious work, anything! Also, if you're curious about Al Bigley's artwork then be sure to check out his blog today by clicking HERE!

BATMAN COSTUME: ROBIN OUTFIT, The Tim Drake Comic Book Version!!

I totally like this kid because he's so cool! This photo was sent in to us by a Bat-Blog Reader named Derek. Now, this is not him, but it's his Brother! This photo was taken in the 1990's when his Brother dressed up as Robin ( the 90's Tim Drake version ) for a Hometown Christmas Parade. The outfit is totally & completely AWESOME! When I was a little kid I would have killed to have a Halloween Costume this great, ha ha! Thank you Derek for sending this, I appreciate it a lot & please tell your Brother that he USED to be cool, but you're wondering what happened, ha ha.

VINTAGE BATMAN TOYS: Johnny Lightning DC Comic Book 1960's Diecast 1/24 Batmobile Model Kits

I thought, for this post, we would revisit a cool Batman Toy from the recent past. In 2002 a toy company called "Johnny Lightning" was making a few Batman-related items that were extremely cool! Now, they made some diecast toys of the Batmobile vehicles of course but they also made these small 1:24 scale metal "screw-together" Model Kits. There were 4 in the complete set: The 1960's Batmobile Car, The 1950's Batmobile, The 60's Batboat, & my favorite, the Bat-Gyro! I remember when these came out & I thought it was so cool that they did such an obscure vehicle as the Bat-Gyro, ha ha! I mean, you never NEVER see this being made! Now another weird thing too was that these were kinda hard to find. I never really saw them much in the usual retail stores like Target & Wal-Mart but you could always find them at Hobby Specialist shops. I guess because they were more like model kits & not actual toy cars. But anyway, they're just great. Now for reference photos I could only find 3 of the original boxes, & I'm missing the one for the Bat-Gyro, but you get the idea. Plus, all 4 vehicles are shown here & you can see their TOTAL beauty.

BATMAN: GOTHAM KNIGHT Animated Movie ACTION FIGURE SET

A Bat-Blog Fan named Chris sent these pics to us recently. He just bought this set of 3 GOTHAM KNIGHT Batman Movie Action Figures from the DC Universe animated film that came out last year. The 3 characters he got were Batman, Scarecrow, & Deadshot. I know a lot of you have probably seen this movie by now, but if not, it's totally worth a look. It was actually pretty cool! I loved how they portrayed the Scarecrow in this film. He looked completely insane & sort of reminded me of the shape of an insect, very strange. The story with Deadshot was pretty cool too with it ending in a Subway Tunnel. That sequence had a lot of interesting visual effects added to it. Whoops! Sorry, back to the figures. Thanks Chris for sending these pics. I remember covering them when they came out but I posted official production photos from the toy company & these are actually better because they are the real deal! I actually don't have these... but now I'll have to get a set, they're great.
