New BATMAN INCORPORATED Action Figures from DC Direct

It looks like DC Direct is wasting no time creating action figures from DC Comics' new comic book title, BATMAN: INCORPORATED. So, here's a look at the 1st wave of toys: Batman ( Bruce Wayne ), Damian as Robin, Man of Bats, & the Knight. The basic story behind these is this: Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City from his trip through time with a new mission - to recruit worthy heroes to don the mantle of the bat! Realizing he can't fight evil alone, Batman teams up with an array of heroes across the globe. Traveling the world, testing and training a strong team, Bruce Wayne builds a nearly unbeatable network of crime fighters. From the ongoing BATMAN, INC. series written by Grant Morrison with art by Yanick Paquette. Look for these action figures to hit stores around July 6th, 2011.

Golden Age BATMAN BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

Every Wednesday the Bat-Blog posts a few Batman Wallpapers for your enjoyment. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday". We have been doing it for about 4 years now so it's sort of a tradition...we hope you like it! This week I thought I would go with a "Golden Age" theme. You know, images that are inspired by the 1940's Batman. The 1st background is the cover artwork for a recent book published by the Penguin Group called "Batman, The Story of The Dark Knight" written & illustrated by Ralph Cosentino. You might recognize this famous pose. It's sort of a re-creation of the "Detective Comics #27" comic book cover, the very 1st appearance of Batman. The interesting thing about Ralph's book is that it is written more in the style of a children's book, but adults would enjoy it too because the art is so cool & it's a fun story. Check it out on your next trip to the book store. Now, the 2nd wallpaper is a Black and White Publicity Photo of Lewis Wilson. He was the movie actor who played both Batman & Bruce Wayne in the 1943 BATMAN Serials. In other words, he was the very 1st "Movie Batman". I love this picture, it's so crazy! If you think about the era it was made the costume was actually pretty nice. Plus, it replicated the comic book look pretty well. OK, I hope you like at least 1 or 2 of these graphics, ha ha! Video - DONUTS The Batman Cat!!

Here's a fun video sent in by our friend Michael. He and his wife made their cat, DONUTS, a Batman costume for Halloween. They did a really great job on it and, personally, I like that it's the older "vintage 1970's retro-style" outfit with the blue & gray colors, very cool! So, Here's DONUTS IN ACTION!

Here's a very interesting fan-made video promoting the BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY Video Game. No actual footage from the game has been released yet but this didn't stop one fan from making a very clever film. He took the promotional photos surrounding this property & then animated them using techniques reserved for motion comics. It's pretty neat, check it out!

BATMAN ARKHAM ASYLUM - ART QUILT - Arts and Crafts

The Bat-Blog is pretty famous for celebrating creativity, in any form, but this photo is just totally amazing! I actually love old quilts as an American art form. But this modern-day one is just really great! It's titled "ARKHAM ASYLUM". Besides Batman, Robin, & a few versions of Batgirl, we also get to enjoy many images of some major villains: Poison Ivy, Bane, the Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and many more. BATMAN LIVE is a new all action live arena show - with Batman and Robin fighting The Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, The Riddler and a host of other top villains.
