Al Plastino - DC Comics' Comic Book Legend Dies at Age 91

I'm sorry to report that I have some sad news to share. Al Plastino, a major force in the comic book art world, died on Monday, November 25th, 2013 at the age of 91. He was best known as one of the most prolific Superman Artists of the 1950's. He was also a Writer, Letterer, Colorist, and Editor at DC Comics. But it's his artwork we all know and love and he will be greatly missed.

Al Plastino worked on many other Superman titles including Superboy and Superman's Girlfriend, Lois Lane. With the Writer Otto Binder he co-created Supergirl in Action Comics #252 (May 1959).

He also drew the ultra-famous Superboy story in Adventure Comics #247 (April 1958) that introduced the Legion of Superheroes. Yes, he also co-created Cosmic Boy, Lighting Lad, and Saturn Girl.

Also, as a major part of Bat-History Al Plastino, as a Penciller, drew the BATMAN syndicated newspaper comic strip from 1966 to 1972. An example of his art in print is shown down below, please click on it for larger/sharper picture:

One last thing - On a personal level, as a little kid, I grew-up reading his comics and always loved his art style, always will. This guy was one of the greats!! My heart goes out to his friends and family.
