Moore Oklahoma School Teacher Loses Batman Toy Collection in Tornado

Here's a heartwarming "Batman" story that I'm kind of proud of because it not only happened in my hometown, but it also involves a cool Teacher who shares the Caped Crusader with her students. But the story is kinda sad too and I know many Toy Collectors out there are going to totally relate.

Here's the deal. Becky Jo Evans is a Teacher at the Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. This was one of the buildings that was hit during the infamous "Moore Tornado" of May 20th. Evans, an avid Batman Collector, displayed her collection in her classroom that she has been collecting since the age of 8.

Now, as you can imagine, the kids totally loved getting to view all the fun 'Batman stuff" she had. Plus, it was a way for her to connect to her Students. Well, because of the tornado, which was categorized as an  Ef-5, almost everything in her collection is totally gone. In the days following the event they have managed to find a few items that survived in the rubble.

The school has been repaired and the first day of class is August 16th. Please be sure to stay tuned to the BAT-BLOG for more information on this because I am going to try to start a donation drive to help. I mainly need to figure out how to accept donations online but will be working on it.

In the mean time, please be sure to check out this TV News 9 video covering her story. Thank you.
