BATMAN : THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Premiers On Cartoon Network TONIGHT!

Just a friendly reminder that the brand-new animated TV series BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD hit's the airwaves tonight! Now, here at the Bat-Blog we have been flooded with e-mails from people asking, "What time does the show come on?" OK, Cartoon Network originally had it planned for 7:30pm & then changed it to 8:00pm but this morning I checked my TV provider's listings & they say 7:00pm. I know, it's all confusing. So, the best thing I can say is just get online or look on your Cable TV Listing channel to find out what time it will be on your local listings. The Cartoon Network is acting very strange with this so just check our local guide to be sure.

Saw it last night...mixed feelings. I didnt hate it but it is a big change from the last two series. I gotta catch a hand full of episodes and let them find their groove. Altough I could have done with out Bats pulling (I think) a light saber out of his utility belt.

I thought it was cool, def marketed towards kids of a younger age its a marketing ploy to sell stuff LOL But if we look back at the superfriends cartoons UGH now not so great when I was a kid I thought they were the best. only thing that bothers me is that everyone of the characters are in silver age type costumes except blue beetle who is in modern age thats just odd to me.

Will I watch the series?
Yes
will I buy the merchandise?
Yes LOL

It was a load of fun. I love the Sprang-ish style and the fifties "over the top" storylines (giant clocks - other worlds, etc.)

It is a refreshing change, and I say that as one of the biggest fans of Nolan's vision of Batman.

I was pumped up for this series and it did not disappoint. It was a solid, fun, action-filled debut. Personally, I've grown up with exposure to many iterations of Batman so seeing a version that was more like the superhero caped crusader of the past than the dark knight of the present was a welcome sight. I grew up reading and enjoying the original Brave & the Bold series and I think that the show's creators made a wise decision with the format. TV needed a new (yet familiar) Batman on screen.

In this show, Batman is portrayed as one of the ultimate old guard superheroes, complete with his indispensible utility belt, sharp mind, and "hammers of justice" (you'll get the reference if you've seen the episode). You see a hero who not only fights alongside other seasoned veteran heroes (like Green Arrow) where he values their aid and expertise, but also takes upon the responsibility of mentoring the next generation of superheroes (like Blue Beetle) where great potential lies.

The art style calls attention to the works of Dick Sprang, Jack Kirby, and many others. And, if you've ever read a B&B comic, you definitely feel the "Zany" Bob Haney vibe! It doesn't skimp out of showing some great action, either. There is humor, but it's not to the detriment of the characters. It works for this format. And, I think that Diedrich Bader did a great job on Batman's voice as I am not married to the idea of Kevin Conroy being the only guy in town to do it (since it didn't work for me on Batman: Gotham Knight).

This is an all-ages show (so of course it's aimed and will appeal to the younger set), which is great because I was able to have a viewing party with my nephews and son and they loved every moment of it...and that's the best part. This show serves as a wonderful introduction to the wonders of the DC Universe without the darkness and cynicism that has seemingly creeped into every little corner. Remember when comics (and cartoons) were...gasp...fun? Also, this episode illustrated some good points that kids can wrap their minds around...the value of teamwork, not letting your head get too big from your own accomplishments, and no matter how small you are, you still have the ability to make a big difference.

Bring on the Batman! Bring on the Heroes and Villains of the DCU! I'm ready for it!

Hi! I'm from Argentina, my blog is in spanish and I'm a big Batman fan (http://laentradadelabaticueva.blogspot.com/). We haven't seen here yet the series you mentioned. In Argentina we only have so far Legion de SuperHeroes I believe sth like Champion League's. I'll add your blog to my links if you don't mind. Regards!
