R.I.P. GEORGE BARRIS - Creator of the Classic 1966 #BATMAN TV Series #Batmobile

It's with a heavy heart that I need to share some really sad "Batman News" that I'm sure many of you have already heard about but some of you might not know. George Barris, the Creator of the 1966 BATMAN TV Series Batmobile Car, passed away on November 5th, 2015.

George Barris was known as the "King of Kustomers" and he not only created the Batmobile but he customized a lot of cars for other Movies, TV Shows, and Celebrities. Two quick examples that I can think of are the TV Monkeemobile (The Monkees) and the Munster Koach (TV's Munsters).

Here's a video showing just a few of his other amazing cars. Wow, what a legacy!!

Back in 2013 Mr. Barris auctioned-off his famous #1 Batmobile that he made from a 1955 Lincoln Futura prototype car. It sold in the Barret Jackson Auction for 4.2 Million Dollars.

George Barris created one of the most iconic cars in the entire world. He will always live on as the creator of the greatest Batmobile made and we are all gonna miss him greatly. I kind of regret that I never got to meet the man in person. Here's a photo of him that was shot just a few months ago. I mean, probably on of the last pics ever. He was always so happy.

In the many years that I have been writing the BAT-BLOG I have come across a ton of people who have all said they met him, at his shop or at a convention, and every single person I talked too all had the same story, "He was extremely down to earth, very generous with his time, and had a great sense of humor". It sounds to me that he loved his fans and was a really great guy. That is so cool. Thank you Mr. Barris, Rest in Peace Sir.

HOT TOPIC Goes #BATMAN BAT-MANGA Crazy!!

Here's a quick post to share some fun news about a few brand-new BATMAN products that have a Bat-Manga theme! Over at HOT TOPIC it seems like they have gone crazy with the Bat-Manga merchandise. There are 4 different T-Shirts and also a very cool Baseball Cap!

If you're unfamiliar with Bat-Manga then you need to read Chip Kidd's book, "Bat-Manga: The Secret History of Batman in Japan (Pantheon)" that came out in 2008. This book is what has inspired all the cool products you see here. It reprints some classic Japanese comics from the 1960's with amazing artwork by Jiro Kuwata and it also has a ton of photos of cool Vintage Batman Toys that are all super-rare.

Vintage Ad - #BATMAN Aurora Model Kit

Just for fun! Here's a random pic I just came across showing an old vintage magazine advertisement for the BATMAN Aurora Model Kit... Only 98 Cents, ha!

#BATMAN #CrazyFoam - New Product Magazine Advertising Graphic

Yes, CRAZY FOAM is BACK!! Here is a quick post to share this cool "magazine advertising" graphic I came across for the new #BATMAN Crazy Foam. The main reason I'm sharing it, other than it's kind of humorous and interesting to see, is to ask if anyone out there has found this stuff in stores???

It's supposed to be sold at Walgreens but I have not been able to find it or any other of the DC Comics Superheroes. (Actually, the only ones I want are the Batman-related characters). WTF?!!

New Look at #BATMAN RETURNS #CATWOMAN Statue by Tweeterhead!

Here's a fresh new look at the 2016 CATWOMAN Maquette Statue that TWEETERHEAD will be coming out with later. Of course this is the "Michelle Pfeiffer" Version from the BATMAN RETURNS Tim Burton Movie.

We already wrote about this brand-new product here at the BAT-BLOG awhile back, but this is a super-new pic of the actual product that just surfaced and I knew I had to share it because it is INSANE!!

For more info on this just CLICK HERE to visit their website. I gotta warn ya though, before you fall in love this statue is pretty expensive, ha!

#JOKER #Batman Related Humor Pictures!!

While digging through my Bat-Files recently I noticed a small trend of "Joker" related pics. So, I decided to dump them here for your entertainment pleasure. They're all really fun, so I hope you like a few of them!

The first one is some awesome JOKER artwork that is sort of inspired by the POP Art Paintings of Andy Warhol. Then, we get to see Jack Nicholson as the JOKER... except that he has "Heath Ledger" style make-up, an interesting twist!

Next up is a fan-made photo where they wanted to see what the Actor William Dafoe would look like as the Arkham-based Video Game JOKER. Wow, he could be great!

Then, we have a Muslim Girl dressed-up as her favorite villain. No offense to any religion intended, just thought it was pretty clever with the "green hair" and nice make-up.

Then, last but not least, The Dark Knight movie done in the style of the Animated Series... Nice!

Power Records #BATMAN Four Exciting All-New Action-Adventure Stories (Vintage 1970's Vinyl)

This post is gonna be a "blast from the past" for anyone who grew-up in the mid-1970's. There was a company called Peter Pan Records who made special entertainment for kids. They were called "Power Records" and they were sort of like "old time radio shows" where actors played popular characters of the day.

We're talking Planet of the Apes, Six Million Dollar Man, Star Trek, Dracula, The Amazing Spider-Man, Conan The Barbarian, and many more.... including Batman and Robin!

Here is a BATMAN record album where they collected 4 different stories into one, a very good deal.

Track List And Cue Times:

00:00 - Robin Meets Man-Bat
14:47 - Mystery Of The Scarecrow Corpse
24:18 - Gorilla City
38:33 - Catwoman's Revenge
