According to our Bat-Blog History Files today is a very special day! Christian Charles Philip Bale was born on January 30th, 1974. He was raised in England & had his 1st film role at the age of 13. He was in Steven Spielberg's 1987 movie, Empire of The Sun. He played a lost English Boy who, separated from his Parents, grew-up in a Japanese Internment Camp during World War II. Later, he had one of his 1st most iconic roles playing the Serial Killer Patrick Bateman in the 2000 movie, American Psycho! Then, of course, starting with Christopher Nolan's 2005 BATMAN BEGINS, he has been the most recent Actor to play Bruce Wayne/Batman. We all look forward to seeing him in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES! JUSTICE LEAGUE - DOOM - Animated Movie Premiere at NYC Paley Center

Next month, Warner Bros Video and MTV Geek are teaming-up to present the Movie Premiere of the next DC Entertainment Original Animated Film, JUSTICE LEAGUE: DOOM! It will be at the Paley Center For Media in New York City on February 13th, 2012 at 6:30. Most of the Voice Actors and Production Team will be there to sign autographs. Yes, come meet Batman, Kevin Conroy! The actual DVD will be released on February 28th. Over at the IDLE HANDS website they recently got their hands on some top-secret promotional material for a few of the brand-new BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie Statues and Busts that will be coming out later this year. They appear to be coming out around June/July of 2012.

First, there's a Set of 3 ICON 12" Full-Figure Statues of Batman, Bane, and Catwoman. Then, there are 3 Busts featuring the same characters. The busts will actually come out one month earlier, in June. One cool thing about these photos is we get a better look at Anne Hathaway's CATWOMAN Costume, the Cat-Suit! Check out the Metallic Heels on those Boots. They look like they can do some serious damage!

WE CAN BE HEROES - The Justice League Joins The Fight To Help End The Hunger Crisis in the Horn of Africa

DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers have created a Campaign to help fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. It's called "WE CAN BE HEROES" and it will use the JUSTICE LEAGUE characters as a vehicle (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg).

WE CAN BE HEROES will support the efforts of three humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa: Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps.

The region is suffering its worst drought and famine in over 60 years, with 13 million in need of critical assistance and 250,000 facing starvation in Somalia alone.

Basically, if I got the information right, DC Entertainment will match each dollar donated until two million dollars has been distributed over the next two years. One way they will be raising funds is through the sale of special merchandise. This includes a WE CAN BE HEROES T-Shirt ( shown up above ), an iPhone Cover, Water Bottle, and Ceramic Coffee Mug. OK, Many BAT-BLOG Fans might remember the BATMAN: MURDER AT WAYNE MANOR Interactive Book that came out a few years ago ( 2008 ), it was really cool! Well, some friends up in New Jersey told us their friend recently found it in the Bargain Bin at Barnes and Noble for $6.95! Yes, Around Seven Bucks! The original Retail Price was about $25 so this is a great deal. On a side-note: I just checked Amazon and it's on sale there for $10 but they also have used copies from Book Dealers for around 3 dollars. But hey, you gotta pay postage on that so it looks like the B&N thing is still the better deal! Plus, you get it right away, ha! Thanks to BatDave & BatChick for sharing this fun info. BAT BLOG TRIBUTE - MARSHALL ROGERS Batman Artist

According to the Bat-Blog History Files today is a great day! Today, January 22nd, the Legendary Comic Book Artist Marshall Rogers was born in Flushing, New York ( a Borough of Queens ). In High School he was inspired by a Mechanical Drawing class and decided he wanted to be an Architect. But later, after attending Kent State University, he discovered that Calculus was just wayyy too hard, ha! Plus, he wanted to be more creative. So he decided to try working as an Illustrator.

He submitted work to Marvel Comics but that didn't lead anywhere. He worked odd jobs to support himself while acquiring small assignments from small Magazines. Then, a big break! He started his comic book career working for Atlas, a short-lived comics publisher. They claimed his work was "too detailed", took too long to draw. It was around this time that he got another big break. He started doing small jobs for DC Comics. His first, was "retouching" reprints of 1940's Batman stories. But this wasn't enough so he tried getting more work at both Marvel & DC Comics. Marvel gave him his 1st big assignment working in their Magazine division. He began drawing "The Deadly Hands of Kung Fu" where he worked with Chris Claremont doing "Iron Fist" stories.

Now, here's the part where he really becomes a part of Bat-History! Around 1977 he began working with the Writer Steve Englehart on a, now classic, Batman storyline that ran in Detective Comics #471 thru 476. This was the famous "Joker's Laughing Fish" story. This event also heavily influenced the 1989 Tim Burton BATMAN Movie. It's also important to note that later Rogers began work on the BATMAN Newspaper Comic Strip that ran from November 6, 1989 to August 3, 1991. To check that out, just click HERE!

Sadly, Rogers passed away on March 24th, 2007. He was found by his Son & the Family reports that he had a heart attack. Also, the Coroner reported that he, "might have been dead for a few days". Among Batman Fans, Friends & Family he is greatly missed. His work in the 1970's and 80's is right up there with the works of Dennis O'Neil/Neal Adams and Jim Aparo. Classic stuff!! I have a few Friends who state that they had met him at various Comic Book Conventions & they all said, "He was a really nice guy, very talkative & quite friendly".

Much of Rogers' work is now considered vastly important and some of his work was collected in two early Graphic Novels titled, "Batman: Strange Apparitions" & "Batman: Dark Detective". Then, later, and actually very recent, a more definitive Graphic Novel was created called "The Legends of the Dark Knight by Marshall Rogers". This book reprints: Detective Comics # 468, 471-479, 481, Legends of the Dark Knight # 132-136, Batman: Dark Detective # 1-6 and more! Check out this LINK for more details on that.

I apologize for getting kind of carried away with this post, it's almost a "book", ha! But this Comic Book Artist was always a Favorite Childhood Hero of mine. His artwork is really great! Awhile back, I received an email about a very cool future Bat-Event, BURT WARD ( The Actor who played "Robin, The Boy Wonder" on the 1966 BATMAN TV Series ) was being interviewed on the Nightwatch Radio Podcast. Awesome! Except, because of an internet glitch, I never got this news. Then the event happened and I only had time to post it on the Bat-Blog Facebook page just an hour or two before it happened. So some people got to hear it "LIVE" and many did not. I want to apologize to both my Readers and the Pod-casters for this screw-up. Hey, I'm extremely good looking but NOT perfect, ha!

THE PIN-UP ART OF STEPHANIE BUSCEMA - Gotham City Sirens!

Awhile back, on Facebook, I started to notice some very splendid artwork by an Artist named Stephanie Buscema. The 1st things I saw were very lovely Pin-Ups of Cute Girls that had a vintage retro-flair. Then, they appeared with a sort of "Halloween Ghoul" theme. These were all really cool. After checking them out I thought she had a lot of talent.

Her artwork looks very much like the kind of Illustration you might see in Vintage 1940's or 50's Little Golden Books. At first they appear "simple". That is, until you notice all the very elaborate shading and complex shapes. Also, let me tell you, pulling off a "minimal-style" type of artwork like this is extremely difficult. Stephanie's art is very well-done! It's super super-cute without making your teeth ache, ha! Plus, her Pin-Up Women are actually very beautiful and represent the species well.

OK so later, all of a sudden, she starts drawing Comic Book Heroines and Villains, POW! Characters like Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and more! Now, this is where I think her work really sparkles! Don't get me wrong, her other stuff is great too, but these "New Superheroes" are fresh. In fact, I would love to see an entire Graphic Novel done this way! Maybe make it the exact size of a Little Golden Book with the Gold-Foil Spine. Even "animated" would be cool.

Anyways, I contacted her and she was sweet enough to share some of her amazing art with us. Because of space limitations I needed to edit her work down to just a few pictures but that proved to be wayyyy too difficult... because they're ALL SO AWESOME!! So, I'm just posting them all, right now, ha ha! ( Thanks Stephanie )

BATMAN DOLLAR STORE ITEMS - Buster Approved!

Shown here are a few brand new items to keep an eye out for the next time you hit the Dollar Store. Actually, these were found at a Retail Outlet on the East Coast called "DEAL$", so they might be a little hard to find in other regional areas. Like, I live in Oklahoma City and haven't seen them yet. But sooner or later they will pop-up!

Anyways, the new products are Batman 2-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo ( Tear-Free, because Batman doesn't cry! ), Batman Bubble Bath ( Bubble Gum Scented! ), and Batman Body Wash. They also sell a neat BATMAN Hand Towel. All this cool stuff, only $1.00 each!

Now, you're probably wondering what's the deal with the Two Cute Kids and the Crazy Dog, ha ha! Well, they are the nieces of our friend BatDave and the Dog's name is BUSTER! These cool kids are part of a Batman Fan Club in New Jersey called "The Junior Bat-Squad". They wanted to model these new products for you, which is great, but they also wanted to share that their Dog BUSTER totally loves the Batman Shampoo! On a side-note: I want to thank these wonderful kids for their support of this site, they ROCK!! Also, BUSTER THE BAT-HOUND RULES!

NEW BATMAN PRODUCTS - Fisher Price BATMOBILE Toys and BAT-SIGNAL BOOK Coming Out Later!

Our Buddy Batmobilly sent us some wonderful pics of two brand-new Fisher-Price Toys to keep an eye out for later in the year. The 1st one is a "DC Super Friends Batmobile Light". Basically, it's a large toy car and when you pop-open the front hood it reveals a hidden flashlight inside. It's funny, I was recently at Target and saw that they already came out with some of these of generic vehicles ( like Police car and Fire Truck ) and thought, "Hey, they need to make a Batmobile", ha! Next up is another version of their "Little People DC Super Friends" Batmobile. This is made for the play sets. It's so gosh darn cute, goo goo!

Then, we have a "BAT-SIGNAL" BOOK by Running Press. This company is also gonna have a "Batmobile Book" that we featured here at the BAT-BLOG.COM before. They are very small little Gift Books sold in a Display Box with a special little toy/figure inside. You can usually find these in a Bookstore around the cash register area. So, look for these later and if you see any new Bat-Products in retail shops then please let us know.

HEY KIDS! Today's theme for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" is inspired by England and here are a few BATMAN Wallpaper-Backgrounds to celebrate! First off is a nice high-res photo of a very tiny Eaglemoss Figure with the Dark Knight on his Bat-Cycle. Eaglemoss is based in Britain and started to make cool Bat-Collectibles a few years ago. This Bat-Cycle Figure was one they made a year or two ago. Right now, they're heavily into creating Batman Chess Pieces you can buy individually.

Actor JIM CARREY Was Born Today in 1962!

According to my Bat-History Files today is Actor JIM CARREY's Birthday. He was born in 1962 and will always have a place in Batman lore as the Actor who played THE RIDDLER in the 1995 BATMAN FOREVER Movie. Shown up above are just a small example of products bearing his image. This was the film that starred Val Kilmer as the Dark Knight and I fondly remember thinking that Jim Carrey did a really decent job of portraying the "Prince of Puzzles". EARTHA KITT IS CATWOMAN - 1960's Batman TV Show Tribute

This day in Bat-History is special because today would have been Eartha Kitt's 85th Birthday. Sadly, she passed away on December 25th, 2008 at the age of 81. I can count back on that that day now and think about it. I was doing the BAT-BLOG pretty heavy at the time it happened and remember how weird it felt that she died on Christmas. That made the news twice as sad. She is deeply missed.

Of course her place in Bat-History is the fact that she took over the role of CATWOMAN in the 3rd and final season of the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. She replaced Julie Newmar who could not be placed in that season because of previous contract agreements and Eartha Kitt was pppuuurrffeecct! She totally got into the character and also had a really great voice. Check out the video below for a few highlights:

Long time BAT-BLOG.COM Readers know that we like to celebrate creativity here so when I saw these cool Custom Toys I knew they had to be posted! Actually, our Good Friend BATMOBILLY spotted them at the 1966 BATMAN Message Board ( Link Button always posted on the far right-hand side of this page ). Some guy named "Turkey Bowinkle" made these amazing figures inspired by his Daughter's Fisher-Price Little People Toys. But the cool thing is that all these figures are characters ( both Heroes & Villains! ) from the 1966 BATMAN TV Show! Plus, they're all done extremely well and also capture the personality of every Actor. We got: Batman, Robin The Boy Wonder, Batgirl, The Joker, The Penguin, Riddler, King Tut, Mr. Freeze, and Bookworm!

BATMAN ART Gets the DR SEUSS STYLE Treatment!

In Australia there is a very talented Graphic Artist named Dr. Faustus who has done some amazing parodies of Dr. Seuss Artwork that is Batman-related! I've been a HUGE Dr. Seuss Fan forever and even collect the books plus a few vintage toys. Reading his books at age 4 gave a life-long LOVE of reading and that's a debt I can never repay. I'm very proud to say that I have a RARE 1957 First Edition Hardback with Dust-Jacket Copy of "THE CAT IN THE HAT", a True Literary Classic! Now, I'm not trying to brag, ha ha, I just want people to know that I'm pretty serious about my love of anything DR SEUSS!

So, you can only imagine how I feel about this artwork, it's INSANELY GREAT! First, as a parody, they're just funny. The one of TWO-FACE really cracks me up for some reason & the CATWOMAN Cat-Suit is wonderful. But the thing that makes them true masterpieces of ART is the ultra-fine details in copying the exact drawing style of Seuss! Faustus has done some other parodies, which are worth mentioning, but because we focus on "Batman" here I'll just post this LINK, please click it to see more great stuff!

Yes, this advertisement also appeared on Television in Italy and was made to sell the BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Video Game for the Wii Console and Nintendo DS... how cool! I don't know, I think it's neat hearing BAT-MITE, GREEN ARROW, and BATMAN speaking Italian, ha ha!

BATMAN TOY COLLECTING - 1970's Memorabilia

I was a little kid back in the 1970's so much of the Batman Toys and Collectibles from that era have a deep nostalgia for me. It's just that I remember actually playing with them, ha! So, here's a nice assortment of groovy 70's items!

First up is a BATMAN TRU-DIMENSION 3-D Action Picture Kit ©1976. Basically this was like a paint by numbers kit, except the "canvas" was 4 layers of clear plastic. You painted them sort of like the way an Animation Artist would paint a cartoon Cel, there were designs in black outline & you would fill-in the color by painting it's back side. Then when you flipped it around it was complete. Each piece had just a few different elements of one total picture. The 4 sheets of plastic were then put in a frame with each piece slightly separated & layered. The end result was a 3-D picture.

Then, here's something you don't see a lot nowadays. This is a Fanzine Magazine, COMIC ZINE #1, from Oct 1971. I'm totally digging the Golden Age artwork on the cover here! These are usually pretty hard to find because they were so limited & usually distributed regionally. Like, only sold in certain areas.

Next up, is an extremely SUPER-RARE item! This is a Batman Long-Sleeve T-Shirt made by a Children's Clothing Company called "Rob Roy". The design on the front is made with artwork "borrowed" from Neal Adams. This example still has it's original Department Store Hang Tag! It was made around ©1974 and very hard to find.

Last, but not least, is this 1977 BATMAN STAMP 'N PRINT SET made by Ahi Brand ( Azrak-Hamway Int'l Inc ). This is one of those cheesy toys you would see at 7-Eleven or you might remember begging your Mom for this at a Grocery Store, ha! I totally love the vintage graphics. It's also cool that it contained a lot of Super-Villain character Rubber Stamps.

DC Comics recently announced an official release date for the highly-anticipated brand-new BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN Graphic Novel by Writer/Designer Chip Kidd and Comic Book Artist Dave Taylor. It will hit the newsstands on May 2nd, 2012! Down below is a complete breakdown of the creative process. We get to see the page where THE JOKER makes his first appearance! It starts at the "script stage" and then we get to see how it evolves into the final artwork, very cool! Well, this example is missing the "word balloons", but I'm totally loving the graphic design so far. Having it in black and white with a very small touch of color is completely beautiful. It really has a retro 1930's feel about it! Also, I know now that the debut of this new Batman book will be a major event!

ALAN NAPIER TRIBUTE - Alfred on the 1966 BATMAN TV Show

Today, January 7th, is a very important day in Bat-History! The Actor, Alan William Napier-Clavering, was born today in 1903. Of course we all knew him has the ever-loyal "Alfred The Butler" on the 1966 BATMAN TV Series. He was perfect for the role and for sentimental "childhood memory" reasons he has always been my favorite "Alfred".

Once, when asked how he got the role, he said, "I had never read comics before I was hired for Batman. My agent rang up and said, 'I think you are going to play on "Batman,"' I said 'What is "Batman"?' He said, 'Don't you read the comics?' I said, 'No, never.' He said, 'I think you are going to be Batman's butler.' I said, 'How do I know I want to be Batman's butler?' It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard of. He said, 'It may be worth over $100,000.' So I said I was Batman's butler."

Sadly, Alan Napier passed away on August 8th, 1988 but lived a good life to the ripe-old age of 85. He will forever be missed. Somehow, I hope he knew that he brought a lot of joy to the world while he was here, may he rest in peace.

MPI Home Video has just announced that around March 2012 they will be releasing a brand-new 2-Disc DVD Set featuring "THE LIVING DOLL" TV Series! Since today is the first day of a brand-new year, 2012, I thought I would celebrate with some wacky BATMAN Foreign Comic Book Covers from around the World! Now, I'm not sure if this first image is CHINESE or KOREAN but I'm sort of leaning toward KOREA, ha! If anyone knows then please let me know. I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just stupid and I only know how to read English, ha! But the cover is crazy beautiful!!

The next two covers are bootlegs from Turkey called BATMEN! That one with the yellow cover that features the Joker, I have that "English" version, how funny! These are extremely RARE! The next two photos are not actually covers, but are a few pages from inside another foreign reprint comic book and these are from GREECE. I totally love their Greek FONT with the unique letters. Last, but not least, is a special ITALIAN version of a 1966 BATMAN TV Show Book. OK, I know that's not an actual comic book but it's still fun! The 1st photo is a beautifully made Custom CATWOMAN My Little Pony Figure done by an Artist named Mari Kasurinen. Next up is a Watercolor Painting that totally cracks me up! Here are 2 characters from "The Imaginary World" of a Cartoonist named Dan Goodsell. OK, The last photo is one I came across on a Cosplay Website. Somebody made a very clever CLAYFACE Costume from the "Batman: The Animated Series" TV Cartoon. This is a character you never see done. I guess because it would be both a nightmare to create and to wear, ha! But you gotta give this person credit, he did an extremely amazing job!

Check out these great photos from a Classified Ad in Canada! It appears that somebody there is selling their Custom 1966 Yamaha BATMAN TV SHOW BAT-CYCLE Motorcycle. The asking price is only around 15-Thousand, which seems pretty fair to me considering how much a brand-new motorcycle costs. Plus, this one is both "Vintage" and "Totally Bad Ass", ha ha! We love it when Bat-Blog Fans share pictures with us and here's a great example! This is a photo from a guy named Gary who lives in Spain. He has 2 Batman-related Tattoos of The JOKER and HARLEY QUINN! The Joker, of course, is the iconic cover art done by Brian Bolland for the BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Graphic Novel. The Classic "Joker snapping a photo" image... Awesome! Next, on the other side of his arm, is a graphic of Harley Quinn. These are both great choices and the Tattoo Artist did a very wonderful job here. Thanks for sharing these Gary, very cool!

VINTAGE BATMAN COLLECTIBLES - Chewing Gum and Candy!

For new readers, the BAT-BLOG.COM is mainly about the joys of being a Collector of the Toys and other fun Bat-Memorabilia, both new and vintage. Here are some examples of older items that are sort of "Candy or Chewing Gum" related. The 1st photo is probably the rarest of all the ones shown here, it's a Package for 1966 BATMAN CANDY STICKS from England. I totally love the graphics on this thing!

Next up is another UK Candy item except they're a little more new. These were also Candy Sticks but featured art from BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES. They were made by the Thorneycroft Candy Company, which British people would probably be familiar with.

Then we have a photo of some individually-wrapped JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA Tattoo Bubble Gum! These were made in the USA by the Fleer Candy Co. between 1969 and 1970. When you open the tiny wax wrapper there's a separate piece of paper with one of those water-based tattoos on it. I actually have one of these, with BATMAN... unopened!

OK, last but not least, is a photo a Friend sent me awhile back because he knew it would torture me, ha! Shown here is a completely full PEZ CANDY DISPENSER Store Display Box!! This is from the mid 1970's and oh my god, they were only 59 cents, ha! We got the Penguin, Joker, Batgirl, batman, and Wonder Woman. Oh yeah, these were also the "rubber head" versions which are way harder to find.

OK, I wish I would have come up with this idea. There are a ton of websites that present brand-new movie trailers but there is only one that has taken a very unique spin on it. They're called TRAILER CATS! They take regular trailers and spice them up a little bit, ha! Here's one for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman movie. The only thing that confuses me is why they made CATWOMAN ( Anne Hathaway ) a Dog?! But it's pretty funny, check it out!

BOOK REVIEW - Gene Colan's TALES OF THE BATMAN Graphic Novel VOLUME 1

THE COMICS JOURNAL just published a very nice review of the recent DC Comics Graphic Novel titled "TALES OF THE BATMAN by Gene Colan Volume 1". Sadly, Gene Colan died last year ( June 23rd ) so the timing on this book is well received and could be considered a tribute. This HC Book compiles the first two year's worth of stories from Gene Colan’s five-year run as BATMAN’s Lead Artist ( Pencils ), which began in 1981. I grew-up reading a lot of his work, or I guess I should say, "looking at his work", and have always enjoyed it. Here's a link to the THE COMICS JOURNAL Review. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - Batman Film Inspires Some Creativity

Here are a few examples of artwork have have been inspired by the next Batman movie, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. The film won't be released for another 205 Days, 8 Hours, and 42 Minutes but some people just can't wait, ha! The 1st two images were created by our Buddy Sean Hartter. He likes to create these parody vintage movie posters that ask, "What If?". Like, What if TDKR was produced in another time period? So, he created this parody movie poster. I like the idea of Kelly LeBrock being Catwoman ( what ever happened to her? ). Then, check out the next graphic, Sean drew this great portrait of BANE in his own crude minimal style ( the colors are awesome ).

Next up, is another parody but on a whole other level. This was created by our Friend "Bacon" and is a combination of the classic horror film, "Night of The Living Dead". Batman is a Zombie in a Graveyard! Oh, by the way, this image is presented here as a WALLPAPER BACKGROUND so please be sure to enjoy it in that way.

If you visit this LINK you can view a video that tells the story about a Serious Guy in Taipei City who is a real-life BATMAN, fighting crime and everything! It appears he takes his "job" quite seriously. He actually dresses up as the Dark Knight & drives around looking for trouble, ha! Here are 2 cool pieces of BATMAN Fan Art that I'm proud of because they were sent in by a longtime Bat-Blog Fan & Good Friend named Xavier. If I did my math right he's now 11 years old and in the 6th grade. First he painted this awesome BATMAN Painting, done in an abstract style. Then, he drew a Tribute to the Bat-Blog website... MTV recently interviewed Hans Zimmer, the Music Composer for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman Film about what the Soundtrack will be and if Catwoman will have her own theme song. He basically said something like, "Yes, Anne Hathaway will have her own song but I have not wrote it yet". He also teases about other interesting details but they're kind of vague.

OK, I guess I'm being pretty lazy this morning with this "image dump" post, but I'm soooo tired! But these pics are really great and totally worth checking out so shut-up, ha ha! The 1st one is from "The Dark Knight" movie and the Joker is telling Batman a very mean knock-knock joke, OUCH!

Next up is a hilarious parody t-shirt that a friend of our found online. The shirt uses a special glow-in-the-dark ink, pretty clever.

Oh yeah, I saved the best for last! I say that because I love vintage photos and this one has a very cool history. This photo was from an event held in Northern Italy back in the 1970's. I have no idea what the celebration was for, but all these small children wearing awesome Batman Bat-Suit Costumes is just completely charming & wonderful! OK, I know I was supposed to post 2 FREE Batman Backgrounds yesterday for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" but I woke-up with a major crick in my neck recently and I've been suffering for a few days ( Waa! Waa! ). Yesterday it was so bad I thought I was going to die, ha! But, I need to do some posts today so I'm forcing myself to do it ( I'm crying while typing ).

About a month ago, November 12 & 13th to be exact, you might remember the BAT-BLOG going crazy trying to cover the NJ COMIC CON in Teaneck, New Jersey. They had sort of a "Batvention" there that celebrated the 1966 BATMAN TV Show/Movie and their Special Guest was none other than CATWOMAN herself, Lee Merriwether! They also had a few 1966 Batmobile Replicas and Bat-Cycle. They also had the Original 1960's Bat-Copter and the real-life Michael Keaton Batmobile from the 1989 Movie, whew!

Well, here's a set of amazing videos created by our Good Friends and Ace Bat-Reporters: BatDave and Dennis! They filmed the NJ COMIC CON so people who couldn't go could get to experience the fun. The videos do a great job at capturing the event and there is plenty of eye-candy to absorb. I especially like seeing all the Bat-Vehicles in detail, the wonderful Costumes, the Special Guests, and other fun stuff. Check it out!!

CHIP KIDD Talks About His Future BATMAN Graphic Novel, DEATH BY DESIGN

Most Serious Batman Fans know who Chip Kidd is. He's a Graphic Designer who has created some really great Batman-related "History Books" that you might know about. His most recent book in that genre is "BAT-MANGA: The Secret History of Batman in Japan" ( 2008 ). But he has also done "Batman Collected", which is mostly about Vintage Toy Collecting, and "Batman Animated", which is about the creation of the popular TV Show. All really great titles that I recommend reading. But any how...

Well, now Chip Kidd is set to write his first actual BATMAN Graphic Novel titled "BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN". The plan so far is for it to come out around Summer 2012 and here's a recent video of him sharing information on it at an AIGA Conference. In his presentation we get to see some of the amazing artwork done by Dave Taylor, a Comic Book Artist living in the UK. We also get a better idea on the story line & it sounds like a really unique concept, check it out!
